THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN'S ELECTRO

A promotion on Kids' WB! on Saturday morning revealed the first look at The Spectacular Spider-Man's Electro.

Electro will be featured in the show's second episode, "Interacting Systems," which will air along with the premiere episode "Survival of the Fittest" on Saturday, March 8.

The episode is written by Kevin Hopps and directed by Troy Adomitis. Electro will be Max Dillon, an electrician who gets his powers through an accident.

Producer Greg Weisman said that the villains' origins will be a consistent part of the series.

"Certain villains will be introduced considerably before they actually become villains," he said. "We get to know them as human beings first and opponents to Spider-Man second."

Electro will be voiced by Crispin Freeman.

In other Spider-Man news:

* The first episode will premiere on Saturday, Feb. 23 at WonderCon in San Francisco. A panel will be held at 3 p.m. (PT), with Weisman, producer/supervising director Victor Cook, character designer Sean Galloway and voice actor Josh Keaton.

* Weisman said that there were some 2,000 voice auditions for the role for Spider-Man. "We were all in immediate agreement that Josh was the guy," he said.

SUPER REAL GRAPHICS' GNOME

Super Real Graphics is launching a line of original graphic novels under the banner of Super Real Graphics Presents with Gnome in April.

Created by Dave Dwonch, Gnome will be 64 pages and will cost $6.99.

"Gnome is an all-ages book, with smart concepts, scripting, and design, that can appeal to young, old, male or female, a well rounded tale, that will win over many hearts, and is a perfect example of what Super Real Graphics new line of original self-contained books is about," said publisher Jason Martin.

Here's how the publishing describes the book:

"Gnomes are real! Believed to be simple yard decorations, these 'Garden Gnomes' once roamed the Earth as its greatest protectors. Long ago a curse was placed upon them, petrifying them until the day they were needed to protect the Earth once more. In 1956 the world was in peril... and one lonely gnome answered the call."
