SATURDAY, MARCH 15, 2008WIZARD WORLD LOS ANGELES: X-MEN PANEL
LOS ANGELES -- Marvel Comics' big summer event, Secret Invasion, was the subject of its second panel on Saturday.
Following are highlights:
* Marvel released the above images at the beginning of the panel. Click on the thumbnails for larger images.
* Panelists included editor Steve Wacker, writers Chris Gage, Chris Yost and Brian Reed, editor Steve Wacker and marketing's Jim McCann.
* Following an Avengers: The Initiative image with Yellowjacket shown as a Skrull, Gage said there are many images of many characters as Skrulls. "Take it with a grain of salt," he said.
* McCann said Captain Britain and MI:13 will show the Skrull's invasion is global. It will include Pete Wisdom, Black Knight and Spitfire.
* Secret Invasion: Who Do You Trust? will be a one-shot by writers Reed, Gage, Zeb Wells, Jeff Parker and Mike Carey. It will focus on Captain Marvel, Wonder Man, Beast, Marvel Boy and Agents of Atlas. Marvel Boy will also play a role in main Secret Invasion story.
* Alan Davis is providing covers for Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four, including a Johnny Storm vs. Lyja image. It is by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Barry Kitson
* Yost is writing Secret Invasion: Runaways/Young Avengers, with art by Takeshi Miyazawa. Yost said both teams have Skrulls on their rosters.
* Yost is also writing the Thunderbolts tie-in issues, which will see an iconic character revealed as a Skrull and going after the team.
* As reported earlier in the day, Secret Invasion: Inhumans will be written by Heroes' scribe Joe Pokaski.
* Brian Michael Bendis, joining via telephone, said the story dates back to the beginning of New Avengers.
* Reed is writing Secret Invasion: Front Line and said it will allow readers to see the event the way people in the Marvel Universe do.
* Reed said Ms. Marvel is incredibly involved with the event.
* McCann said there will be an X-Men tie-in, with more details to be revealed.
* Are people who aren't super-powered being replaced? "That is a super question," McCann said.
* McCann said Iron Man plays a "massive role" and must step up.
