COMING WEDNESDAY

Iron Man news -- and much more!

IRON MAN: JON FAVREAU

The Continuum continues its series of interviews from last weekend's Iron Man press junket in New York City with director Jon Favreau, who also plays Happy Hogan.

Favreau remained coy about rumored appearances in the film, but talked about casting Robert Downey Jr., the differences between Iron Man and Batman and more.

IDW PUBLISHING LANDS GALAXY QUEST

IDW Publishing has announced an August launch for Galaxy Quest: Global Warning.

The five-issue mini-series, written by Scott Lobdell with art by Ilias Kyriazis, follows the events from the 1999 DreamWorks film, Galaxy Quest.

Here's how IDW describes the story:

"It's been 20 years since the cast of Galaxy Quest ruled the airwaves. Alas, the intervening decades have involved lots of sci-fi conventions and retail store grand openings and precious few acting jobs for our brave band of thespians. Now, on the eve of the re-launch of America's most beloved science-fiction series, Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues, a world-threatening crisis occurs! Will the Earth survive? Maybe, if Jason Nesmith and his fellow actors-turned-adventurers have anything to say about it! In the immortal words of his alter ego, Commander Peter Quincy Taggart, 'Never give up! Never surrender!'"

"Fans, and numerous Targathian babies, have cried out for us to bring Galaxy Quest to comics, and we're all too happy to oblige," said Chris Ryall, IDW's publisher/editor-in-chief.

"Let's face it. Is there anyone who saw Galaxy Quest that didn't come away wondering about the continuing adventures of Jason, Sir Alex, Gwen, Tommy, Guy and Fred and Jane?" Lobdell said. "We've pined away for a sequel long enough! Now we're going to learn what became of these actors after their first greatest adventure together. Yes, they are excited about the re-launch of the franchise that made them cult icons, but don't think for a moment that success has quelled their quirkiness. And when they have to suit up again, and take the Protector out of orbit...? Let's just say experience isn't going to make their jobs any easier!"

IDW PUBLISHING TO COLLECT LOVE AND CAPES

IDW Publishing on Tuesday announced that it will be collecting Thom Zahler's Love and Capes in a trade paperback in November.

The 152-page book will collect the first self-published six issues, feature a new cover from Zahler and cost $19.99.

Here's how IDW describes Love and Capes:

"Abby and Mark are a typical couple. At least, that's what Abby thinks. Unknown to her, her boyfriend is not just an accountant, but also the super-powered crime-fighter, the Crusader. See Mark tell Abby he's The Crusader. Find out how Abby deals with some of his super-ex-girlfriends. And learn the difference between a weakness and an allergy. Experience their first Christmas and beyond!"

"I really love the sweetness and humor of Thom's comic -- maybe only Tom Beland is writing comics that have as much heart as this book -- and was all too happy to put out the first LNC collection under the IDW banner," said Chris Ryall, IDW's publisher/editor-in-chief.

"I'm thrilled to be working with IDW and doing this collection," Zahler said. "It'll be great for the current fans, who have often requested this, and will hopefully expose the series to a whole new audience."

Zahler will also release Love and Capes Free Comic Book Day edition on Saturday.

REBEKAH ISAACS ON DRAFTED

Devil's Due Publishing on Tuesday released pages from Drafted #7, featuring new artist Rebekah Isaacs.

Isaacs previously drew Hack/Slash for Devil's Due before accepting the assignment on Mark Powers' sci-fi series.

"Drafted itself has been a like a dream job for me," Isaacs said. "I'm thrilled not only to see a truly epic, engaging new story enter the sci-fi genre, but especially to be a part of its creation."

A graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, Isaacs has worked previously on a Twilight Zone graphic novel in addition to her work on Hack/Slash. She takes over penciling duties from artist Chris Lie in a Drafted issue that sees the first act of Powers' saga reach a boiling point. In the wake of humanityıs draft into an alien army, issue #7 will see some humans begin to rebel against the aliens who are trying to help them.

"To say I'm excited about collaborating with Rebekah is an understatement," said Powers. "Rebekah's strengths in portraying interpersonal moments and creating characters that truly act will allow us to dramatically depict the enormous personal and emotional costs being demanded of our cast as the scope of story expands."

Drafted #7 arrives in stores on May 14.
