IRON MAN NO. 1 AT BOX OFFICE

Iron Man broke the $100 million mark domestically and the $200 million mark worldwide after its first weekend of release.

The film topped the box office with $100.7 million for the weekend, with $3.5 million on Thursday for an estimated total of $104.2 million.

The weekend take was the second best for a non-sequel, trailing only 2002's Spider-Man, and the 10th best ever.

After five days, Iron Man had pulled in $201 million worldwide. The film drew among the best reviews of all Marvel movies.

Since Blade opened on August 21, 1998, 14 of the 17 Marvel films have opened at No. 1, including the last six.

Marvel films topping the box office were Blade, X-Men, Blade II, Spider-Man, Daredevil, X2, Hulk, Spider-Man 2, Fantastic Four, X-Men: The Last Stand, Ghost Rider, Spider-Man 3, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Iron Man.

The only Marvel films not to open at No. 1 were The Punisher, Elektra and Blade: Trinity.

Iron Man becomes the 12th Marvel movie to top $100 million.

Marvel's next movie will be The Incredible Hulk on June 13.

In other Iron Man news:

* Robert Downey Jr., who stars as Tony Stark/Iron Man, will be a guest on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday.
