SMALLVILLE SEASON 8

The CW on Tuesday unveiled its schedule for the 2008-2009 television season, and, as expected, Smallville will return to its Thursday 8 p.m. time period for its eighth season.

The network's description for the series revealed no details, instead rehashing the events of Season 7.

Season 8 figures to be one of change.

Show creators Al Gough and Miles Millar have departed; John Glover's Lionel Luthor was killed off; and Michael Rosenbaum, who plays Lex Luthor, recently announced he won't be returning.

It is unclear if Allison Mack, who plays Chloe, will return, with reports on recent negotiations painting it doubtful and her name not on The CW's cast list for Season 8. Kristin Kreuk is scheduled for only a handful of episodes as Lana.

The network recently annouced that Doomsday and a yet-to-be named female will be introduced as villains in Season 8.
