VIPER COMICS' HORROR IMPRINT

Viper Comics on Monday announced the launch of its new imprint, a horror-based line of comics and graphic novels entitled Black Mamba Books.

The imprintwill launch with the release of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! in October. A special advance edition of the first issue which will be available at Comic-Con International in San Diego on July 24-27.

Here's how Viper describes the book:

"Not since the super-secret invasion of Canada (if we told you, we'd have to kill you) has military operative Mason Dixon faced such a grave challenge. They're red. They're high in lycopene. They are most certainly lethal...and they are among us. Dixon and his team of highly trained specialists are all that stand between us and The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!"

A ne film adaptation of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! is being developed by M. Dal Walton III's Second Wind Entertainment, with the creative forces behind the internet phenomenon "Ask A Ninja," Kent Nichols and Douglas Sarine, to adapt the property for the big screen and Nichols to make his feature film directorial debut. The Black Mamba Books comic book is being adapted from the original film by Dale Mettam with artwork by Erich Owen.

Viper is also in negotiations with Tony Todd, Christa Campbell, The Frog Brothers' Jamison Newlander and Corey Feldman to bring their original horror stories to Black Mamba Books.
