COMING THURSDAY

Marvel news -- and much more!

THE MIDDLEMAN: "THE SINO-MEXICAN REVELATION"

Mark Dacoscos, who starred as Eric Draven in the short-lived The Crow: Stairway to Heaven television series, is guest-starring in the Monday, June 30 episode of ABC Family's The Middleman.

The network has provided The Continuum a description and eight images from the episode, titled "The Sini-Mexican Revelation."

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"Wendy must save the day when The Middleman and Sensei Ping are kidnapped by a band of Lucha Libre wrestlers.

"To become a full-fledge Middleman, Wendy must first undergo training from Sensei Ping, the most lethal man alive. But things go horribly wrong when Sensei Ping is abducted by an angry group of Mexican wrestlers seeking revenge under Wendy's watch. After sending her home for the day, The Middleman starts to search for the famous fighter but soon finds himself also entrapped by the Lucha Libres. Now as their last hope, Wendy must prove herself capable as she heads down to the Yucatan to rescue both her boss and the martial arts master."

Dascoscos, 44, plays Sensei Ping. He can also be seen as The Chairman on the U.S. version of Iron Chef.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"The all-new episode opens on Thanksgiving as Aunt May Parker is released from the hospital -- but Venom has no intention of letting May and Peter Parker enjoy a family celebration. Knowing all of Spider-Man's secrets -- even some Pete isn't consciously aware of -- Venom threatens to destroy Pete and everyone he loves most. Will Pete embrace his destiny in time to defeat this new arch-nemesis?"

The episode was written by Kevin Hopps and directed by series producer/supervising director Victor Cook.

ONI PRESS COLLECTS LOCAL

Oni Press has announced a September release for the Local hardcover bookshelf that collects all 12 issues of the series by Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly.

Here's how Oni describes the book:

"What does it mean to be a 'local'? Where do you call 'home'? Each of the 12 issues of Local stand alone, while tying in thematically with one another. The series follows the travels of Megan McKeenan as she discovers herself, while she discovers America. Crossing genres as it crosses the country, Local examines how where you live impacts who you are. Each issues gives the reader another year in Megan's life, as she tries to find a place where she fits in, where she can truly be local."

"Local is the book I'm proudest of, hands-down," Wood said, "and the care and trouble Oni Press has shown in collecting it in such a gorgeous hardcover really completes the whole experience for me."

Oni Press Editor in Chief James Lucas Jones said, "Brian is such a versatile storyteller; he's able to move from horror to romance to action seamlessly, and Ryan's able to adapt right along with him. They have both done their research to make these stories not only visually accurate, but emotionally resonant as well. Each town has its own vibe, and these guys capture that completely."

The Local over-sized hardcover comes cloth-bound, smith-sewn, with gorgeous full color cover including a special metallic fifth color. The 384-page book's extras will include all the original and reprint full color covers and all first printing issue essays. It will cost $29.99.
