THE INCREDIBLE HULK TOPS BOX OFFICE

The Incredible Hulk pulled in an estimated $54.5 milliion to top the box office in its opening weekend.

Kung Fu Panda placed second with $34.3 million. Iron Man was seventh with $5.1 million, pushing its total to $297.4 million.

The first Hulk film in 2003 opened with $62.1 million.

Since Blade opened on August 21, 1998, 15 of the 18 Marvel films have opened at No. 1, including the last six.

Marvel films topping the box office were Blade, X-Men, Blade II, Spider-Man, Daredevil, X2, Hulk, Spider-Man 2, Fantastic Four, X-Men: The Last Stand, Ghost Rider, Spider-Man 3, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Iron Man.

The only Marvel films not to open at No. 1 were The Punisher, Elektra and Blade: Trinity.
