THE DARK KNIGHT ROUNDUP

Appearing on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Friday, The Dark Knight's Michael Caine said that Heath Ledger delivers an award-winning performance as The Joker.

"The great revelation of it when you see it will be Heath Ledger as The Joker. He is extraordinary," said Caine, who returns as Alfred. "I think, at minimum, there will be a posthumous nomination for the Academy Award -- minimum."

Caine said he cried when he heard of Ledger's death.

"He's such a talented man and you'll see when you see this performance," he said. "It's extraordinary."

Caine also praised the work of director Christopher Nolan.

"Christopher Nolan is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, director I've ever worked with," Caine said.
