SAN DIEGO -- Lionsgate and Marvel staged the world premiere of Hulk vs. Wolverine, one of half of its Hulk vs. animated movie, at Comic-Con International on Thursday.

The Hulk vs. movie, which will also include Hulk vs. Thor, will be released in January on DVD and Blu-ray as the sixth animated film in the Lionsgate/Marvel series.

Appearing on the panel were producer/superivising director Frank Paur, supervising producer/co-writer Craig Kyle and co-writer Christopher Yost and Fred Tatasciore, the voice of the Hulk.

Here's how Hulk vs. Wolverine is described:

"Alberta, Canada: Over the past week, the Incredible Hulk has been tearing a line across the Canadian wilderness, leaving a swathe of destruction in his wake. He has to be stopped, and therešs only one man up to the job. Hešs the best at what he does, but what he does isnšt very nice. Hešs Wolverine, an elite agent of Canadašs top secret Department H, and hešs been put on Hulkšs trail with a single objective: stop the green goliath...at all costs. Hulk and Wolverine are about to enter the fiercest battle of their lives. And they have no idea that there are a few unpleasant surprises waiting for them on the other side."

Following are highlights from the panel:

* The movie starts with Wolverine going after the Hulk. After their first big skirmish, they are tranquilized and taken back to Weapon X, where Wolverine encounters Deadpool, Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike and Omega. He tries to rescue Bruce Banner, resulting in numerous fights.

* This was by far the most violent of the Marvel direct-to-DVD with blunt beatings, amputations and blood.

* Deadpool's voice is done by Nolan North, who did the voice of Hank Pym/Giant-Man in Ultimate Avengers. His numerous one-liners drew many laughs from the audience.

* Other voices include Colin Murdock as Omega Red, Mark Acheson as Sabretooth, Bryce Johnson as Bruce Banner, Jamyle Jared as Lady Deathstrike and Tom Kane as the Professor. Jamie Simone continues to work on the Lionsgate/Marvel productions as voice director.

* The Hulk and Wolverine will meet again in Nicktoons' upcoming Wolverine and the X-Men animated series. "It won't be as bloody," Kyle said.

* Tatasciore is currently Marvel's voice for the Hulk. He also did the character's voice in the Ultimate Avengers. He is also doing the voice of Beast in Wolverine and the X-Men.

* Kyle described Hulk vs. Wolverine as "very ugly, nasty, dirtry and personal" while Hulk vs. Thor is "huge monsters destroying gods."

* Paur noted that the tone of the two parts of the film is different.

* Jeff Matsuda, whose credits include The Batman, did character designs for Hulk vs. Wolverine.

* Yost said the simplicity of the concept -- have Wolverine and Hulk fight -- was appealing. "We had a chance to do big action and get into Wolverine's past and his rogues' gallery," he said.

* Following Hulk vs. in January, the first cycle of Lionsgate/Marvel films will conclude with Tales of Asgard and Planet Hulk.
