COMING TUESDAY

Television news -- and much more!

THE MIDDLEMAN: "THE OBSOLESCENT CRYOGENIC MELTDOWN"

ABC Family has released images and a description from "The Obsolescent Cryogenic Meltdown," the Monday, August 11 episode of The Middleman.

The episode guest-stars Kevin Sorbo from Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Andromeda.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"In 1969, The Middleman had an arch nemesis named The Candle. When the dastardly villain disappeared, the 1969 Middleman took a drastic step by cryogenically freezing himself with the strict instructions to be unfrozen when The Candle should ever return. Thirty-nine years later, The Middleman and Wendy stumble across a new case that seems eerily similar to The Candle's M.O. While researching how to handle the old foe's return, Ida drops the bomb on them about her instructions to unfreeze the 1969 Middleman. With a 40-year vendetta and a '60s mindset, will the old Middleman be able to work with The Middleman and Wendy to catch The Candle, or will their differences get in the way of justice?

"Meanwhile, worrying about her 'perfect' relationship with Tyler and how her job may interfere with it, Wendy goes to the 1969 Middleman for advice."

In other Middleman news, the Monday, August 18 episode is titled "The Vampiric Puppet Lamentation."

MORGAN FREEMAN IN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT

Morgan Freeman, star of this summer's Wanted and The Dark Knight, is listed in serious condition after an automobile accident late Sunday night in Mississippi.

According to the Associated Press, Freeman, 71, is at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., about 90 miles north of the accident scene in rural Tallahatchie County in the Mississippi Delta.

Freeman's car apparently was airborne before landing in a ditch. The jaws of life were used to extract him from his vehicle.

According to the report, Freeman was conscious and lucid, even joking with rescue workers.

Freeman reprised his role of Lucius Fox in The Dark Knight. He played Sloan in Wanted.

TOP COW TO PUBLISH BERSERKER

Top Cow Productions has provided The Continuum a piece of art by Dale Keown for its upcoming Berserker series.

Top Cow announced at Comic-Con International it is partnering with Milo Ventimiglia and Russ Cundiff of DiVide Pictures to publish Berserker, a series created by Rick Loverd.

"Berserker is about people discovering they have superhuman ancient Norse powers as they're pulled into an underground war that's been raging for a thousand years," Loverd said.

"It's about people dealing with all the curves the world throws, accepting yourself. It's about not feeling helpless in the face of new challenges and, when someone builds a wall in front of you, smashing right through it with your bare hands. And, of course, it's about bone-popping bloodlust, spine-crushing action, and saving the world from total destruction!"

Since Ventimiglia and Cundiff are also developing the comic book series Rest with Devil's Due Publishing, when they saw Berserker, they recognized right away its potential for the four-color medium.

"We just wanted to see the story come to life," said Ventimiglia, star of the NBC series Heroes. "Loverd's script was actually a television pilot and our first comment was, 'Wow! This is way too edgy for TV,' so we thought, 'What better medium than comics?'"

The Berserker comic book is currently in development and will debut in 2009.
