THE DARK KNIGHT BOX OFFICE

Although its run of topping the weekend box office will likely end at four, The Dark Knight still will have a momentous weekend.

After pulling in $5.0 million on Friday, The Dark Knight figures to pass Star Wars on Saturday for second place in all-time domestic gross, trailing only Titanic.

The Dark Knight's total heading into Saturday was $459.7 million. Star Wars, released in 1977, pulled in $460.1 million.

The Dark Knight placed third on Friday, trailing Tropic Thunder's $8.0 million and Star Wars: The Clone Wars' $6.2 million. Although The Dark Knight rallied from second-place performances on Friday to win the past two weekends, it seems unlikely to overtake Tropic Thunder this weekend.
