SPIKE TV SCREAM 2008 AWARDS

The Dark Knight topped nominations for Spike TV's SCREAM 2008 awards, announced on Wednesday, with 21.

The awards will be taped on Saturday, Oct. 18 at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles and will premiere on Spike TV on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).

Show host, presenters and musical performers to be announced shortly.

Iron Man landed 14 nominations, with Hellboy II: The Golden Army notching 13.

Winners will determined through voting on Spike TV's website from Sept. 12-Oct. 17.

ARCHIE COMICS ROUNDUP

Archie Comics om Wednesday morning unveiled a new Archie Comics logo that will appear on all of its comic books, digest/double digests and graphic novels.

The new logo will make its first appearance on the Archie Comic publications scheduled for the newsstand on-sale next week, with Veronica #190 and Archie Digest #247.

TThe new trade dress for all of the Archie Digest Library books include new logos for most of the titles as well as secondary logos for popular characters featured in the digests. Characters such as Little Archie, Cheryl Blossom, Reggie, Josie & the Pussycats are featured in the digests every month, but not necessarily on the cover.

BRIEFLY

* The Saturday, Sept. 20 episode of The Spectacular Spider-Man on The CW 4Kids is a repeat of "Interactions," featruing Electro.

* Voice actor Peter Lurie told The Continuum he is providing the voice of Sabretooth in the Wolverine and the X-Men animated series. Sabretooth will appear in at least two of the series' 26 episodes.

* ABC will kick off its annual "13 Nights of Halloween" stunt by airing the three Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action movies on Sunday, Oct. 19.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will air at 4 p.m. (PT/ET), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze at 6 p.m. and then the ABC Family premiere of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III at 8 p.m.

The three movies will air again on ABC Family on Wednesday, Oct. 29 beginning at 5 p.m.

* The Hero Initative has unveiled Mike Wieringo's variant Marvel Apes cover. The variant will cost $8 and be available at Hero Initiative booth at the Baltimore Comic-Con (Sep. 27-28), Mid-Ohio-Con (Oct. 4-5), Adventure Con (Oct. 25-26) and Wizard World Texas (Nov. 7-9).

* Lionsgate is listing the running time of the Punisher: War Zone movie as one hour, 47 minutes.

* Series artist Matt Timson and Sheldon Mitchell are providing covers for Top Cow Productions' Impaler #1 in December.
