TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2008MARVEL STUDIOS ROUNDUPMarvel's financial report for the third quarter, released on Tuesday, revealed that 26 additional episodes of Wolverine and the X-Men are in pre-production.
The first 26 episodes, produced with India's First Serve Toonz, have been completed and will begin airing on Nicktoons in January. Episodes have already aired in Canada on YTV and in Latin America markets.
It is unclear what talent from the first 26 episodes will return, or if Nicktoons will continue to be the series' domestic home.
In other notes from the company's webcast:
* David Maisel, chairman of Marvel Studios, said Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk have combined for $840 million in world wide box office and $250 million in worldwide DVD sales.
Iron Man is the 21st top-grossing movie of all time, Maisel added.
* Maisel didn't reveal any additional talent for its upcoming movies. Maisel said announcements will be made as deals are completed.
* Iron Man 2 and Thor are Marvel's only movies lined up for 2010. Marvel is awaiting word from Sony Pictures on when Spider-Man 4 will be released. Marvel has already received $5 million from Sony for the film.
* Response to Hasbro's Iron Man toys has been better than Marvel anticipated.
HEROES: "VILLAINS"NBC has released four video previews for "Villains," the Monday, Nov. 10 episode of Heroes.
Here's how the network describes the episode:
"To prepare for the confrontation ahead, Hiro (Masi Oka) follows respected businessman, husband and father Arthur Petrelli (guest star Robert Forster) in the days before he 'died' -- to discover what drove him to create rival company Pinehearst and strike at Angela (Cristine Rose). Later, a moment unfolds where Sylar (Zachary Quinto), horrified and guilt-ridden, might have stopped his murderous pursuit of abilities -- that is, if H.R.G. (Jack Coleman) and Elle (guest star Kristen Bell) had swayed from their monstrous assignment. Finally, under the wing of Company man Thompson (guest star Eric Roberts), agent-in-training Meredith (guest star Jessalyn Gelsig) watches her new life go up in smoke, following the arrival of her hot-headed brother."

The episode -- written by George Krstic and directed by Rob Coleman -- is the first episode to feature R2-D2.
In the episode, R2-D2 is lost during a fierce space battle, and Anakin must find him before the Separatists discover the Jedi military secrets locked in his memory banks.
Krstic, creator of Cartoon Network's Megas XLR, said R2-D2 is his favorite Star Wars character.
"Artoo is very childlike and inquisitive -- there's no subterfuge to Artoo," Krstic said. "He's got loyalty and bravery and, while he doesn't speak English, I think everyone understands what he's saying. The wonderful sound design work and the incredible characterizations for Artoo have made it so that it doesn't matter what language you speak, or where youčre from -- you can relate to Artoo and what he's about."
