February solicitations -- and more!

SMALLVILLE: DOOMSDAY

The CW on Thursday night offered the first glimpse of Smallville's Doomsday.

The network ended its broadcast of the "Abyss" episode with a preview of next week's "Bride" -- which features the wedding of Jimmy and Chloe, the return of Lana and the first appearance of Doomsday.

The 15-second clip showed Doomsday wreaking havoc at the wedding. Clark throws a punch, which Doomsday easily catches. Doomsday then confronts Chloe, his breath visible, as the clip ends.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"It's Chloe (Allison Mack) and Jimmy's (Aaron Ashmore) wedding day and the two prepare to walk down the aisle at the Kent farm. Meanwhile, Oliver (Justin Hartley) tells Clark (Tom Welling) he thinks he's discovered where Lex is hiding and takes off to Cuba to confront him. However, when he arrives, Oliver is shocked to find Lana (Kristin Kreuk) instead. Clark and Lois (Erica Durance) grow closer but chaos ensues when Doomsday crashes the wedding and tries to kidnap Chloe."

"Bride" was written by Al Septian and Turi Meyer and was directed by Jeannot Szwarc.

THOR ANIMATED SERIES

Marvel Studios has announced plans for a Thor animated series to launch in the fall 2010, months after the release of the Thor live-action movie.

Twenty-six half-hour episodes are planned.

Here's how Marvel describes the series:

"The animated series will follow Thor as he defends his mythical home of Asgard against fantastical villains, fiendish hordes, winged creatures and angry giants. The show takes place in various wondrous worlds: from mountainous landscapes to places of icy mists and fiery voids. Thor will be surrounded by many companions on his mission, every one sure to add to the action and adventure of this series."

"The Thor animated series continues Marvel's strategic plan to follow each of our tent pole feature films with an animated series and will offer a continued awareness in the marketplace for this exciting new franchise," said Eric Rollman, Marvel's President of Animation. "Through animation we can openly explore and tell the rich stories which are unique to the worlds of Thor."

Marvel's animation slate for television also includes:

* Wolverine and the X-Men and Iron Man Armored Adventures, 26 episodes each to begin early next year on Nicktoons. Twenty-six additional episodes of Wolverine and the X-Men have been ordered and they will likely continue to air on Nicktoons.

* A second season of 13 episodes of The Spectacular Spider-Man. The series is currently airing on The CW 4Kids.

* The Black Panther, now targeted for a summer launch on BET.

* Marvel Super Hero Squad, based on the stylized toy line from Hasbro.

* The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, targeted for fall 2011.
