ARCANA STUDIOS' PARADOX MOVIEArcana Studios has released details about Paradox, the first in a series of five movies produced with Legacy Filmworks and Bron Management.
Paradox, currently filming in British Columbia, is based on the comics series created by Christos Gage, who wrote the screenplay along with his wife, Ruth Fletcher Gage.
The film is being directed by Brenton Spencer, and the cast includes Kevin Sorbo, Steph Song, Christopher Judge, Alan C. Peterson, Alisen Down and Emilie Ullerup.
Here's how Arcana describes Paradox:
"Paradox introduces homicide detective Sean Nault, a cop on a parallel Earth who is investigating a baffling series of murders committed by a means his Earth has never seen before: the power of science. Sean uncovers an apocalyptic plot that will lead him to another dimension and the realization that, unless he prevents it, both earths could well be destroyed."
Sorbo, 50, stars as Nault. He is best known from the television series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Andromeda, both of which ran more than 100 episodes in syndication.
This past year, Sorbo was seen in an episode of ABC Family's The Middleman (shown right) and in the 300 spoof, Meet the Spartans.
Legacy Filmworks' Deboragh Gabler and Bron's Aaron L. Gilbert will produce the Arcana slate, with Arcana founder/publisher Sean O'Reilly serving as executive producer.
"Since Aaron joined forces with me at Arcana, we have concentrating on structuring partnerships with top producers like Deboragh Gabler." O'Reilly said. "We are excited to be working with her on our films, which will introduce and showcase the work of some incredible independent comic-book creators. We are also just thrilled to have these projects financed given the state of the current market."
Other projects on Aracana's film sale include: Chopper, a horror/thriller based on a Martin Shapiro comic going to camera end of January; and Sundown, a western/vampire thriller based on the comic by Jay Busbee, scheduled for April/May production. Future slate projects will be announced in the coming months.
