Batman the Dark Knight

Kamandi will make his first appearance in Batman: The Brave and the Bold this month on Cartoon Network.

Kamandi will be featured in the teaser portion of the "Dawn of the Deadman" episode, scheduled for Friday, Jan. 16. The character is a prominent part of the opening theme sequence.

The main portion of the episode pits Batman and Deadman against Gentleman Ghost.

The episode was written by Steven Melching and directed by Ben Jones.

Nicktoons has announced that Wolveirne and the X-Men -- the animated series scheduled to premiere on Friday, Jan. 23 -- will be available through the OnDemand cable service.

The series will have a dedicated category in Nick's Video OnDemand offering beginning on Monday, Jan. 19.

Wolverine and the X-Men video content will be available on TurboNick and via Nickelodeon's wireless platforms.

In other Wolverine and the X-Men news:

* The series will be supported by a website, www.areyouamutant.com, which will launch on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Users may have their DNA "scanned" to determine if they have mutant genes and, if so, they can enter the mansion of the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters. In the mansion, they can visit one of four X-Men-hosted rooms or the Common Room, which will feature Instant Replays of the series post on-air premiere, polls, message boards, as well as episode descriptions and characters profiles.

The site, updated weekly, will also feature a link to Nick.com's Game of The Week, Wolverine and the X-Men: Sentinel Slash, where Wolverine's quest brings him claw to face with a host of deadly robots in a fast-paced, action-packed 2D battlefield where his reflexes and his mutant healing factor will be just as important as muscle. Players control Wolverine to defeat the enemies in each level, and keep Wolverine alive as long as possible.

* Phil LeMarr is providing the voice of Gambit. LeMarr's many credits include Static in Static Shock and Green Lantern in Justice League/Justice League Unlimited.

"All of us involved with the Farscape comic books are ecstatic that the fans have embraced the project in such an overwhelming way," said Boom!'s managing editor Matt Gagnon. "I couldn't be happier with the team we have in place. We're having a blast continuing the Farscape mythos, and we hope it shows."

Farscape #1 is written by television series creator Rockne S. O'Bannon with script by Keith R.A. DeCandido, interior art by Tommy Patterson and cover art by Dennis Calero and Joseph Corroney.

After what it called "a rough fourth quarter in 2008 and a brief delay in production," Devil's Due Publishing has announced its schedule for January.

According to assistant publisher Sam Wells, DDP books scheduled for January shipping include:

Jan. 7: Mercy Sparx #2 and Rest #2.

Jan. 21: Spooks: Omega Team #4 and Hack/Slash #19.

Jan. 28: Sheena: Dark Rising #2.

"I want to personally thank all of the retailers and fans who have loyally stuck by our side during this difficult time," said DDP president Josh Blaylock, President. "2008 was not easy for anyone, but for those of us who pull through we'll all come out stronger. We have a tremendous amount of inventory on order and you will see over a dozen releases coming through the pipeline by the end of February."

Archie Comics has released the cover images for both of its Free Comic Book Day offerings.

The eighth annual event is scheduled for May 2.

One of the FCBD issues will feature the return of the Mighty Archie Art Players, who were a mainstay of several Archie titles throughout the years, including Laugh and various digest comics.

The concept was simple: present stories that exist in an alternate universe separate from the continuity established in the mainline Archie titles. This was achieved by framing each story as a play put on by Archie and his friends. Each took on a character role to tell tales set in various times and places.

In the FCBD edition, the Mighty Archie Art Players have a rip-roaring good time in the old west, put a modern-spin on the classic Snow White fairy tale, tell a big fish story with Betty as a mermaid, and cater to the whims of Veronica, transformed into the ancient Egyptian queen Cleopatra.

Archie's other FCBD offering is a Sonic the Hedgehog story by Ian Flynn and Tracy Yardley. "Evolution of A Hero" will explore the connection between Sonic and the Freedom Fighters, Shadow the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Echidna? There will also be a sneak peek in Sonic the Hedgehog #200.
