EMILY BLUNT: BLACK WIDOW IN IRON MAN 2?

Emily Blunt has emerged as the front-runner to play Natasha Romanoff -- aka the Black Widow -- in Marvel Studios' Iron Man 2, Daily Variety is reporting.

News of Blunt's possible involvement comes after reports last week that Mickey Rourke, winner of a Best Actor Golden Globe on Sunday, and Sam Rockwell were in negotations to play villains in the movie.

Marvel has not commented on any casting for the film, other than Robert Downey Jr. returning as Tony Stark/Iron Man and Don Cheadle taking over the role of James Rhodes.

Blunt, 25, already has appeared in more than a dozen films. Her credits include The Devil Wears Prada, Charlie Wilson's War, Dan in Real Life and the upcoming The Wolfman.

She is also providing a guest-voice in the Sunday, Jan. 25 episode of Fox's The Simpsons.

Several years ago, Black Widow was in development for her own film, with X-Men writer David Hayter attached.

Jon Favreau is back as director for the sequel, with production expected to start this spring. Marvel has scheduled Iron Man 2 for a May 7, 2010 release.

IMAGE COMICS ROUNDUP

Image Comics has released the cover image to February's Youngblood #8, featuring President-Elect Barack Obama.

Obama will be featured in a six-page back-up story written and illustrated by Rob Liefeld.

"Obama re-instating the Youngblood program with his picks is a natural, with Savage Dragon having featured Obama already," Liefeld said. "And with Youngblood having featured George H. Bush in its past as well as a Saddam Hussein styled guy and Youngblood featured alongside Dan Quayle in WILDC.A.Ts and Bill Clinton in Supreme, Image has a long history of involving presidential figures!"

The story will see Obama begin his term by selecting the next line-up of Youngblood to protect the country after the team's recent radical changes. This leads into May's Youngblood #9, in which Liefeld returns to the book full-time and President Obama comes into play as the White House comes under siege.
