WATCHMEN NO. 2 AT BOX OFFICE

Watchmen took in an estimated $18.1 million in its second weekend to place second at the box office.

The film dropped 67 percent from its opening weekend. It has a 10-day total of $86 million and figures to cross the $100 million mark in the next week.

Disney's Race to Witch Mountain topped the weekend box office with $25.0 million. The Last House on the Left, which beat Watchmen on Friday, placed third for the weekend with $14.7 million.

According to Variety, the weekend marked the first since late December that the domestic box office has been down from the previous year's.

PUNISHER: WAR ZONE DVD

Lionsgate is hoping Punisher: War Zone fares better in the home market than it did at the box office with its DVD and Blu-ray release on Tuesday.

Punisher: War Zone quickly disappeared from theaters in December, pulling in $8.0 million, the worst performance of any Marvel film.

The performance of 2003's The Punisher ($33.8 million at box ofice) in the home market helped prompt another Punisher film. The Punisher's success eventually brought about a special edition of the film on DVD.

The Punisher: War Zone comes with five featurettes and a digital copy of the film.

The audio commentary features director Lexi Alexander and director of photography Steve Gainer. Alexander talks about the rigors of a 40-day winter shoot in Montreal; the over-the-top villainy of Jigsaw; the colorful lighting and specific use of three colors in any one frame; Ray Stevenson's approach to playing the Punisher; and her reaction to the movie's critics.
