DRAGONBALL: EVOLUTION

20th Century Fox has released 17 images from Dragonball: Evolution, the live-action movie based on the Japanese manga created by Akira Toriyama.

Here's how Fox describes the movie, scheduled for an April 8 release:

"Dragonball: Evolution features a cast of rising young stars and veteran acclaimed actors. Justin Chatwin, who portrayed Tom Cruise's son in Steven Spielberg's "War of the Worlds," takes on the role of the heroic Goku, a powerful warrior who protects the Earth from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the Universe and controlling the mystical objects from which the film takes its name. Emmy Rossum is Bulma, a beautiful woman intent on retrieving the mystical Dragonballs for her own reasons; Jamie Chung is Chi Chi, a young martial artist who captures Goku's eye; and screen legend Chow Yun-Fat is Roshi, the Master who guides Goku on the young man's epic quest to save the Earth from the forces of darkness."

RADICAL'S FREEDOM FORMULA AT NEW REGENCY

A film version of Radical Publishing's Freedom Formula continues to move forward, with the publisher announcing a deal with New Regency and a writer.

Mike Finch, who just sold his spec script, Medieval, to New Regency with McG attached to produce and possibly direct, will write the adaptation based on Radical Publishing's 5-issue comic-book series, Freedom Formula: Ghost of the Wasteland, written by Edmund Shern, CEO of Radicalıs Singapore-based sister company, Storm Lion.

"Mike Finch came up with an incredible take that goes deeper into the mythology of the source material," said Barry Levine, Radical's president and publisher.

Bryan Singer, who directed the first two X-Men movies and Superman Returns, is attached as a producer and possible director.

Freedom Formula is Radical Picturesı second development deal, following Universal Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment acquiring Hercules: The Thracian Wars, based on the 5-issue comic book series by Steve Moore, with Peter Berg producing and potentially directing through his production company Film 44.
