MARVEL SUPER HERO SQUAD: TAYE DIGGS

Taye Diggs, whose name has surfaced in rumors about a Black Panther movie over the last couple of years, is indeed playing the character -- in animation.

The Continuum has learned that Diggs is providing the voice of Black Panther in Marvel Super Hero Squad, the animated series based on the toy line that will premiere later this year on Cartoon Network.

Diggs, 37, is best known from the television series Private Practice, the Broadway musical Rent and the feature film How Stella Got Her Groove Back.

Diggs is also slated to play the head of a vampire family in Dead of Night, the film adaptation of the Italian comic Dylan Dog. He joins a cast that includes Brandon Routh, Anita Briem and Sam Huntington.

The Black Panther is getting his own animated series later this year from BET. Djimon Hounsou is providing the voice of T'Challa in that series.
