FOX DEVELOPING DEADPOOL MOVIE![]() 20th Century Fox is developing an X-Men spin-off movie featuring Deadpool, according to a report from Daily Variety.
Ryan Reynolds, who played Wade Wilson/Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, would return to star in the film.
Reynolds -- who played another Marvel character, Hannibal King, in Blade: Trinity -- has long expressed an affinity for the character.
"I've wanted to play Deadpool most of my adult life," Reynolds said. "It's a beloved character with comics fans, so it's not a responsibility I take lightly."
Despite his apparent demise in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Deadpool is seen in one of the film's ending-credits segments as being alive.
The Deadpool movie would be produuced by Laruen Shuler Donner, who has produced all of the X-Men movies for Fox.
Variety is also reporting that another Wolverine film appears to be in the works, picking up from the hints of a Japanese storyline.
Also in development are a Magneto film and an X-Men: First Class movie.
NICKTOONS PICKS UP MORE WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN![]() Nicktoons Network has picked up 26 additional half-hour episodes of Wolverine and the X-Men from Marvel Animation for a total of 52 episodes.
The series, which premiered on Jan. 23, has been a ratings juggernaut, helping the network to its highest-rated April ever with all core demographics and total viewers. New episodes from Season 1 will return on Fridays beginning May 22 at 8 p.m. (ET).
"Wolverine and the X-Men is a proven hit with our audience who can't get enough of this new action-packed series," said Keith Dawkins, Nicktoons Network general manager, senior vice president, Nickelodeon Programming Partnerships. "We are excited to continue working with Marvel to bring viewers the next chapter for these super heroes."
Led by Wolverine and the X-Men and Iron Man: Armored Adventures, Nicktoons Network posted the highest gains of any other kids' network with boys 6-11 and boys 6-14 in prime time and total day for quarter-to-date. Here's how Fox describes the episode:
"The team is on the case when human remains are found inside a barrel of wine during a wine tasting. When the victim turns out to be a wine critic whose scathing reviews were capable of sending a vineyard to its ruin, everyone from the wineryıs owner to the victimıs own wife becomes a suspect. Meanwhile, Brennan decides she wants to have a baby and surprises Booth with the request to father her child. The unexpected request dredges up a host of unspoken feelings and unresolved issues between the two of them, and Booth becomes consumed by the prospect of having another child. The stress of the situation, coupled with Boothıs undiagnosed health issue, paves the way for a surprise visit from Stewie Griffin, Family Guy's diabolically clever baby who offers Booth advice in his inimitable style."
