MOTOR CITY COMIC CON: YANCY BUTLER TALKS KICK-ASS MOVIE

Yancy Butler, who starred for two seasons in TNT's Witchblade television series, told The Continuum that she has a small role in the upcoming Kick-Ass movie, based on the comic book created by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.

"I filmed for about a week-and-a-half in London in November," Butler told The Continuum on Friday at the Motor City Comic Con in Novi, Mich.

Butler said she plays Angie D'Amico, an Italian mother along the line of Edie Falco's character in The Sopranos. Angie is the wife of druglord Frank D'Amico (played by Mark Strong) and mother of Chris (played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who becomes the Red Mist.

Butler said she was impressed with the scale and effects of the film.

"It's amazing, I've never seen anything like that," she said.

Director Matthew Vaughn gave Butler the first four issues of the Kick-Ass comic that had been completed by the time she was filming, and she said she enjoyed Kick-Ass' premise.

"The trials and tribulations of a high-school kid trying to become the perfect super-hero are quite interesting -- and comical," she said.

Butler said she has fond memories from Witchblade series and has been following the development of the Witchblade feature film. She can next be seen in Wolvesbayne, an upcoming horror film for SciFi Channel.

MOTOR CITY COMIC CON: MITCH BREITWEISER

Mitch Breitweiser told The Continuum he's excited to be part of next month's Captain America #600 from Marvel Comics.

"It's a great book. It's got a lot of great artists," Breitweiser said Friday at the Motor City Comic Con.

Breitweiser said his pages involve a World War II flashback with Captain America and the Red Skull.

A Marvel exclusive artist, Breitweiser most recently has been doing covers, including variants for Dark Tower: The Fall of Gilead #3 and Skaar: Son of Hulk #14 and a cover featuring several Golden Age heroes.

Breitweiser said he is happy with his exclusive with Marvel and is lining up his next project, but couldn't reveal any details. "It might be something that starts with an 'X'," he said.

ARCHIE ANDREWS GETTING MARRIED?

Archie Comics has released a teaser image from August's Archie #600, which features a story titled "Archie Gets Married Part 1: The Proposal."

The story is written by film producer Michael Uslan, who produced The Spirit and has been an executive producer on the Batman movie. The art is by Stan Goldberg.

Here's how Archie sets up the story:

"Could it be true? Has Archie finally decided to take the plunge and propose to one of comics¹ favorite girls? It sure looks that way! Earlier this year readers got a chance to relive 'Freshman Year' with the famous teens of Riverdale High. Now make way for this special story that takes a look at Archie and his friends after they graduate college! What careers will they seek? Will the friends stay in Riverdale or disperse? What would lead Archie to have marriage on his mind? And who would he choose Veronica or Betty? How will Betty react? How will Veronica react? Can Archie shake off his klutzy past and hold down a steady job... for more than a month? One thing is certain: this will be the biggest Archie Comics story ever!"

Look for Archie's complete August solicitations soon here in The Continuum.
