THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN: SEASON 2

Disney XD will premiere the second season of The Spectacular Spider-Man with back-to-back episodes on Monday, June 22.

The "Blueprints" episode will air at 7 p.m. (ET/PT). In the episode, Peter wants to talk to Gwen about their first kiss, but before he gets the chance, Spider-Man has a run-in with the sorcerer Mysterio.

Airing at 7:30 p.m. is "Destructive Testing," in which Peter wrestles with his feelings for both Gwen and Liz. In the meantime, Kraven the Hunter has arrived to make Spider-Man his prey.

Season 2 episodes have been completed for some time, airing in international markets such as Canada.

"It's sort of out our hands," supervising producer Greg Weisman said. "It would have been lovely if the show had premiered everywhere at the exact same time, but we don't always have that luxury. On the other hand, those of you have been patient and waited for Disney XD to catch up with Canada and Bulgaria will be rewarded for their patience.

"Pretty much every villain from Season 1 is back in Season 2, plus we've got Silvermane, Silver Sable, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Master Planner, Molten Man and a few other suprises. We've got some great arcs. We've got a terrific Master Planner arc that harkens back to the early Stan (Lee) and Steve (Ditko) stuff both story-wise and visually. We've got a great Venom arc, a gang war arc and a Green Goblin arc ends the season."

MARVEL COMICS' STRANGE TALES MAX

Marvel Comics has announced a September launch for the three-issue Strange Tales MAX mini-series.

The 48-page books will feature such Marvel heroes as Spider-Man and the Hulk and such creators as Paul Pope, Peter Bagge, Molly Crabapple, John Leavitt, Junko Mizuno, Dash Shaw, James Kochalka, Johnny Ryan, Michael Kupperman, Nick Bertozzi, Nicholas Gurewich and Jason.

Peter Bagge's The Incorrigible Hulk will be serialized over the three issues. This first issue sports a cover by Paul Pope and Jose Villarubia.

"The philosophy of the book was to have these creators from 'indy' or 'alternative' or 'literary' or 'art' comics come in and do what they do best," editor John Barber said. "I think Marvel readers will really dig seeing radically different versions of their favorite characters, and the fans of these cartoonists will get to see the creators work in a milieu they never thought they'd get to see."
