WIZARD WORLD PHILADELPHIA: MONDO MARVEL PANEL

Marvel Comics on Sunday staged its Mondo Marvel panel at Wizard World Philadelphia, making several announcements.

Following are highlights:

* Marvel Zombies Return is a five-part event shipping weekly in September. According to writer Fred Van Lente, the stories will show where the zombified characters were transported to after the second Marvel Zombies mini-series.

The lineup includes Marvel Zombies Return: Spider-Man by Van Lente and Nick Dragotta, Marvel Zombies Return: iron Man by David Wellington and Andrea Mutti, Marvel Zombies Return: Wolverine by Jonathan Maberry and Jason Shawn Alexander, Marvel Zombies Return: Hulk by Seth Grahame-Smith and Richard Elson and Marvel Zombies Return: Avengers by Van Lente and Wellington Alves.

Arthur Suydam returns as cover artist.

* Artist Phil Jimenez is joining writer Warren Ellis on a five-issue arc of Astonishing X-Men.

* Nomad: Girl Without a World is a four-issue series that launches in September, following the events of Captain America #600 and featuring Ricki Barnes. Sean McKeever is writing, with an artist to be announced.

* Daredevil starts a new direction in Daredevil #501 with the new creative team of writer Andy Diggle and artist Roberto De La Torre.

* War of Kings: Who Will Run is an epilogue following War of Kings #6 in September, written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning with art by Paul Pelletier. The original Guardians of the Galaxy are featured in #16.

* Eric Shanower and Skottie Young team again on The Marvelous Land of Oz, an eight-issue series beginning in November.

* Novelist David Liss is writing Daring Mystery Comics #1 70th Anniversary Special, featuring Phantom Reporter from The Twelve. Jason Armstrong is the artist for the September release.
