MARVEL COMICS ROUNDUP

Marvel Comics has announced it is collecting the sold-out Ms. Marvel #39-41 in Ms. Marvel: War of the Marvels Must Have.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"The Dark Avengers' Ms. Marvel breaks out into her own series! But what does the villain formerly known as Moonstone have planned during Norman Osborn's Dark Reign? The Merc with a Mouth Deadpool, the Amazing Spider-Man, best at what he does Wolverine, and the unbreakable Luke Cage guest star in the prelude to 'War of The Marvels!'"

The book will cost $4.99 and will be in stores on August 19.

In other Marvel Comics news:

* Marvel has announced four variant Rest in Pieces covers, providing clues to changes ahead for the Punisher. The first two variants will appear on Punisher #8 and #9.

* Marvel has announced a second printing for Dark X-Men: The Beginning #1. The second printing will feature the interior art of Leonard Kirk, Jesse Delperdang and Ibraim Roberson on the cover and will be in stores on August 12.

DISNEY TO PUBLISH PRINCE OF PERSIA GRAPHIC NOVEL

Disney Book Group has announced a Prince of Persia graphic novel anthology, the first graphic novel written by the creator of Prince of Persia, Jordan Mechner.

Todd McFarlane has created art to be featured on the cover, and interior art will be by several comics veterans.

The 128-page graphic novel, a full-color action-adventure anthology featuring six original stories, is a prequel to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, the feature film to be released by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films on May 28, 2010. The Prince of Persia graphic novel anthology will publish in April 2010 simultaneously in hardcover and paperback with a 125,000 first print run.

³We are thrilled to publish Jordan Mechnerıs book debut,² said Jon Yaged, vice president, U.S. publisher, Disney Book Group. ³We have developed a fantastic publishing program for the Prince of Persia film release and this graphic novel is an incredible cornerstone.²

At Comic-Con International in San Diego on Friday at 11:30 a.m., Mechner, McFarlane, Bernard Chang, Tommy Lee Edwards, and Cameron Stewart will discuss the Prince of Persia graphic novel anthology at Disney Press' panel.
