COMIC-CON: X-MEN

SAN DIEGO -- A crossover involving Selene, the new X-Men: Legacy artist and X-Factor's 50th issue were among the highlights at the X-Men panel at Comic-Con International on Friday.

Panelists were Axel Alonso, Matt Fraction, Craig Kyle, Chris Yost, Majorie Liu, Daniel Way, Peter David, Jason Aaron and moderator Jim McCanno.

Highlights included:

* Fraction said readers will see if Scott Summers is as good as he thinks he is and if Norman Osborn is as smart as he thinks he is in Utopia.

* David said X-Factor #50 will conclude a year-long story arc. "The fan dedication has been really great to see," David said.

Two separates story lines -- in the modern day and 80 years from now -- begin to come together in #46 and everything crashes together in #30, David said. "It will have unexpected consequences," he said.

* Wolverine: Weapon X #6 kicks off the second arc. Aaron said it opens with Wolverine locked in an institution, not knowing who he is. "Maybe the craziest people in the asylum aren't the inmates, but the people in charge," Aaron said, praising the art of Yanick Paquette.

* Way talked said Deadpool #12 resolves the first story arc. On the next year's worth of stories, Deadpool will try to become one of the good guys. "But he has no idea of how to do that," he said. "It asks the question of if he can be a hero at this point."

* Liu said in Dark Wolverine, Dakken is going to learn the hero business isn't as easy as he thought.

* Daniel Acuna is becoming ongoing artist of X-Men: Legacy beginning in September with the annual.

* Mageno returns in "Nation X," beginning in Uncanny X-Men in September.

"You'll learn to see where he' s been, what he's up to and why he's back," Fraction said.

* "Seven the Hard" is a story in Wolverine: Origins. Way said Wolverine has to change tactics after the Romulus story arc because he can't outmaneuver him. He has to assemble pieces and characters to pull a plan. He goes to Bruce Banner and runs into Skaar.

"You'll see characters you don't normally see in Wolverine," he said.

* Beginning in October, X-Force, X-Men Legacy and New Mutants crossover for a story called "Necrosha" that sees the dead literally rising from their graves. Selene is resurrecting victims of the Genosha massacre.

"This is our opportunity to bring back all the characters who were lost to," Kyle said.

"This is the Black Queen, with everything coming together for her," Yost said.
