CHICAGO COMIC-CON: MONDO MARVEL PANEL

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- As usual, Marvel Comics' Mondo Marvel panel at Chicago Comic-Con on Saturday was a wide-ranging affair, with several announcements.

Panelists included Mark Paniccia, Lauren Sankovitch, Dan Slott, Jason Aaron, Sean McKeever, Chris Yost, Craig Kyle and Jim McCann.

Following are highlights:

* The Amazing Spider-Man story, "Mysterious," was teased. Slott said he is teaming with Marcos Martin on the story arc, which will begin in #618.

Spider-Man and the Secret Wars will be four issues and will launch in December. It is written by Paul Tobin, with art by Patrick Scherberger. McCann said it's not a Marvel Adventures or a retcon, but tales told from Spider-Man eyes. "Paul Tobin found a cool way to find some cool things you didn't see," McCann said.

* Jeff Parker is taking over from Andy Diggle as writer of Thunderbolts beginning with #138. "This is going to feature a lot of crazy reveals and Norman Osborn facing off against Songbird and the original Thunderbolts," McCann said.

*An Incredible Hercules arc, "Assault on New Olympus," begins in November with a special prologue issue, as Hercules takes the fight to Hera and the Olympus group. "This is a perfect jumping on point for people who haven't been reading," Paniccia said.

The Agents of Atlas will be featured in the story and in back-ups, Paniccia said.

* New Avengers Annual #3, by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Mayhew, will reach stores in December. The story features Ronin and Luke Cage.

* Dark Avengers Annual #1, by Bendis and Chris Bachalo, will also be in stores in December. The story features Noh-Varr. "This is all headed towards something big, but we can't quite tell you yet," McCann said.

* "Stark Disassembled" is a story running in Invincible Iron Man #20-24. McCann said that the story culminates Matt Fraction's original pitch for Iron Man and added that the story will change Tony Stark forever.

* Realm of Kings will spin out of War of Kings #6. beginning in November. "You're going to get one massive story written by the same people," McCann said of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning.

War of Kings: Who Will Rule?, a one-shot in September, will be written by Abnett and Lanning, with art by Paul Pelletier and a cover Brandon Peterson.

Realm of Kings #1, a one-shot in November, will be written by Abnett and Lanning, with art by Leonardo Manco and a cover by Clint Langley.

Realm of Kings: Inhumans, a five-issue series, will be written by Abnett and Lanning, with art by Pablo Raimondi and a cover by Stjepan Sejic.

Realm of Kings: Imperial Guard, a five-issue series, will be written by Abnett and Lanning, with art by Kev Walker and a cover by Brian Haberlain.

* Kyle talked about Selene bringing back some old characters in X-Force.

* McKeever returns to Marvel with Nomad: Girl Without a World, a four-issue mini-series in September. The series deals with Rikki adjusting to feeling lost in the world. "It's a story about her trying to find her role in the Marvel Universe," McKeever said. Art is by David Baldeon, with covers by Rafael Albuquerque.

* Talking about Dark Reign: The List -- Wolverine, Aaron said, "It's me getting to do some of my favorite Grant Morrison characters," including Fantomex and Marvel Boy.

There will also be a tease of one of Aaron's favorite old Marvel characters returning in Wolverine: Weapon X.

* Slott talking about the "Gauntlet" in Amazing Spider-Man: "He's going from one big threat to another as we're building to something really big."

* Slott teased Mighty Avengers, pointing to #30, page 10. "I will never write a better Hank Pym scene," Slott said, noting reaction will either be great or outrage.

Also in Mighty Avengers, Slott said there will be a story involving "an apocryphal Inhumans king" who has been written out of history.

* Paniccia said to look for a major reveal at the end of X-Men Forever #5. The "Secret History of the Sentinels" will run in #7-9 with art by Tom Grummett, #10 will feature the return of Paul Smith and Wolverine's funeral and #11 will spotlight Colossus.
