VAMPIRELLA: THE SECOND COMING

Harris Comics has provided The Continuum a look at two of the covers for Vampirella: The Second Coming #4, due in stores on Dec. 9.

The covers are by Arthur Suydam and by Simone Gabrielli.

Here's how Harris describes the issue, which is written by Phil Hester, with art by Al Rio:

"It doesn't get any bigger than this: The Army of Vampirella strikes back at Gore, led by a reborn Vampirella. But is she really back? Or is this just the Beginning of the End of Vampirella for good. In a series of shocking twists and turns we've saved the very best for last. The re-invention of Vampirella concludes and Vampirella as you know it will never be the same!"

TOM ROOT WRITES JUGHEAD

Archie Comics has announced that Tom Root -- co-head writer and co-producer of Cartoon Network's Robot Chicken and co-creator/executive producer of the upcoming Titan Maximum -- will be writing Jughead #200.

Here's how Archie describes the issue:

"The issue-length saga 'Something Ventured, Something Gained' takes Riverdale High's fabled teens on their wildest ride ever, as Jughead trades his body's metabolism to a witch in exchange for a mega cheeseburger... and everything goes bonkers from there with a chain reaction of cataclysmic proportions!

"Before you know it, Archie is offering his pure heart to get Juggy's metabolism back, and Betty and Veronica make offers of their own to get the old Archie to return! Meanwhile, Jughead's waistline is growing larger than Lodge Mansion! Needless to say, the kids are plenty disenchanted with being enchanted."

Root has tackled the Archie characters before, using them in a parody of the Final Destination movies in Robot Chicken.

"The Archie Comics characters are comedy icons," Root said. "Each character's personality has been so well-defined over the course of nearly 70 years that it was a lot of fun to shake them up and present them with new challenges. Mostly, though, I just wanted to write a funny issue. I hope Archie fans like it!"

The issue will reach stores in March.
