BLUEWATER'S MICHAEL JACKSON BOOK GETS SECOND PRINTING

Bluewater Productions has announced that Tribute: Michael Jackson, King of Pop, has sold out prior to its release and will have a second printing.

The first printing of the book will arrive in stores on Wednesday and the second printing -- with a cover shown to the right -- will be rushed to fulfill orders.

"We knew it would be a popular title, but even we were surprised how fast the book sold," said Bluewater president Darren Davis. "We leaked pages to different sites, shared them with fans and they decided this is a book worth owning."

The second printing will feature a new cover by Giuseppe Mazzola from Jackson¹s official fan club. Mazzola also provided the foreword to the expanded 30-page edition.

"This is a celebration of his life and what he meant to a legion of fans," Davis said. "Although the book won't shy away from some of his personal troubles, we try to tell a balanced story that shows Jackson as a musical genius, an unparalleled superstar and as a complex person."

IDW PUBLISHING'S ARCHIE COLLECTIONS

IDW Publishing has announced specific titles and a May launch for its series of Archie collections, featuring hardcovers and trade paperbacks.

"Archie is one of the most influential comics on popular culture and we are really looking forward to starting our collections by offering these new books to fans," said Greg Goldstein, IDW's chief operating officer. "Each book offers a new and different way for fans to enjoy or even rediscover this classic comic, with many more to come."

Following are the initial releases, with descriptions from IDW:

Archie: The Best of Dan DeCarlo Volume One, May: "The dean of Archie artists, Dan DeCarlo spent nearly 50 years with the characters of Riverdale High, drawing every character at one time or another. Archie: The Best of Dan DeCarlo Volume One contains dozens of stories handpicked by DeCarlo connoisseurs, all shot from original art and recolored to match the flavor of the original publishing. The Best of Dan DeCarlo is the first in IDW's Archie 'Best Of' series, which will grow to include collections for Bob Montana and Stan Goldberg, among others."

Archie: The Classic Newspaper Comics, Volume One, June: "Published under IDW's Library of American Comics imprint and designed by Eisner Award-winner Dean Mullaney. Volume One reprints the earliest strips starting from 1946-48, many strips for the first time, and showcases the unheralded genius of Montana as he developed the lovable characters."

Archie: Pureheart the Powerful, July: "Collecting, at long last, the short-lived yet much-loved Archie superhero parody stories that first appeared during the 'camp craze' of the mid 1960's. With the coming Archie Comics new Pureheart the Powerful, IDW's reprint collection is the perfect way for fans to rediscover the original characters."
