GREG CAPULLO COVERS IMAGE UNITED

Image Comics has unveiled Greg Capullo's variant cover for Image United #2, due in stores on Dec. 23.

"When it came time to choose an artist for our next guest variant, Greg Capullo was the first guy who came to mind," Image Comics publisher Eric Stephenson said. "From his early days following Todd (McFarlane) on Spawn to his creator-owned series Creech and his work on Haunt, Greg has become nearly as synonymous with Image Comics as any of the founders. Besides that, he's also a phenomenal cover artist in his own right. We're thrilled to have him on board."

Capullo's cover features the heroes of Image United combating the series' big bad, Omega Spawn, as reflected in the mini-series' opener.

Retailers can order as many copies of the color version as they wish. A limited-edition, 1:100 version of the cover in black and white will also be available to qualifying accounts.

BREA GRANT TALKS WE WILL BURY YOU

Brea Grant, who played Daphne on NBC's Heroes, said teaming with her brother Zane to write IDW Publishing's four-issue We Will Bury You series continues a natural collaboration.

"Zane and I have been working together on music or other creative endeavors for a long time," Brea Grant said. "We have a similar sense of the world, sense of humor and work ethic, so it just really works out."

Here's how IDW describes the book:

"Set during the Roaring Twenties, a time of great change for American society, We Will Bury You takes this challenging era and adds the chaos of zombies for an ingenious new horror story that offers an engaging look at the human condition. The four-issue series follows two unlikely heroines from the margins of society as they fight to survive and battle the spreading zombie infection."

"Besides the aesthetic of the Roaring Twenties being a great and underused environment for horror, there were a lot of big changes going on during that time period," said Zane Grant. "The country was divided in a lot of complicated ways that are still relevant today."

Kyle Strahm is the series' artist, with covers by Ben Templesmith, Nate Powell and Trevor Hutchison.

"We wanted someone who could conceptualize both the beauty of the era and the grotesque nature of the zombies," Brea Grant said. "Kylešs portfolio had these amazing, scary monsters alongside futuristic images and realistic faces. Everything he draws feels a little mystical, yet bizarre. He has no trouble showing the sickening nature of what we were visualizing."

The series launches in February.

THE SIMPSONS: "THURSDAYS WITH ABIE"

Fox has released a description of "Thursdays with Abie," the Sunday, Jan. 3 episode of The Simpsons.

The episode guest-stars Mitch Albom, author of Tuesdays with Morrie and a columnist for The Detroit Free Press.

Here's how Fox describes the episode:

"Grampa is sitting on a bench waiting for his family when a thoughtful-looking man named Marshall Goldman approaches him and asks to hear about his life. Grampa tells Goldman about the time he was on a World War II battleship, which was hit by an enemy torpedo, and Goldman, a human-interest columnist, publishes it in The Springfield Shopper.

"Later, Grampa meets Mitch Albom (guest-voicing as himself) and shares another story with Goldman for a follow-up article. Homer becomes jealous of Grampa's newfound fame and seeks a surrogate father. But when Homer discovers a draft of Goldman's third story, he must race to find Grampa before it is published and his life is changed forever."
