MARVEL MOVIE ROUNDUP

According to Hollywood trades, Sony Pictures is postponing the production start of Spider-Man 4.

An unnamed source within Sony told Daily Variey that the sequel will not begin production in February, as originally scheduled.

Acccording to the Hollywood Reporter, the production delay is due to script difficulties, specifically over the use of villains in the movie. The report indicates director Sam Raimi wants the Vulture, while the studio is pushing the Black Cat.

Alvin Sargent is currently working on the screenplay, following passes by James Vanderbilt, David Lindsay-Abaire and Gary Ross.

The studio has set a May 6, 2011 release date for the film, but it is unclear if that is still obtainable.

In other Marvel movie news:

* According to Variety, 20th Century Fox has tapped Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to write the Deadpool movie.
