BLUEWATER SPOTLIGHTS ROBERT PATTINSONBluewater Productions has announced it will spotlight Twilight film star Robert Pattinson in its Fame imprint in May.
The 32-page comic will trace Pattinson's career, from his first performance in Tess of the D'Urbervilles at London's Barnes Theatre to his star turn in the Twilight movies.
Writer Kim Sherman said that she is eager to introduce fans to the many sides of Pattinson.
"I love having the ability to introduce high-profile people to readers through an unexpected medium that is both written and visual," Sherman said. "These biography comics are designed to illustrate interesting tidbits to fans about their favorite figureheads, and inspire them to learn more. I chose to conceptualize A-lister Robert Pattinson from a unique perspective, immersing the reader into the life of the talented actor beyond his most famous role."
Interior art will be by Nathaniel Ooten.
The Pattinson book follows a November release of a bio-comic based on Stephenie Meyer, the Twilight writer, which sold out multiple printings.
According to Bluewater, future Fame comics will include 50 Cent, Tiger Woods and David Beckham.
ARCHAIA COMICS' FRAGGLE ROCKThe Jim Henson Company and Archaia have announced that the three-issue Fraggle Rock mini-series will launch in April.
The first issue will be followed by the release of Archaia's Free Comic Book Day flip book, featuring Fraggle Rock and Mouse Guard, available for free on May 1.
"All of us at Archaia are so proud of how Fraggle Rock is turning out," said Stephen Christy, director of development for Archaia. "We're taking a lot of unique approaches with this series, from launching it in our popular 8" x 8" Mouse Guard format to bringing in incredibly talented indie creators such as Jeffrey Brown, creator of Incredible Change-Bots, and Jeremy Love, creator of Bayou, to share their visions of this classic Jim Henson Company creation."
"Fraggle Rock has devoted fans who have told us they want more adventures from Gobo and the gang and we know Archaia is the perfect partner to tell these new stories," said Melissa Segal, The Jim Henson Company's Sr. Vice President, Global Consumer Products. ³With exceptional attention to detail and excellent storytelling, Archaia is especially suited to introduce Fraggles to young readers who may be meeting these characters and their fantastical world for the first time."
The Fraggle Rock comic book series closely follows the themes and tone set forth in the original television program. Each Fraggle Rock issue features one main story and two back-up tales.
The first issue contains contributions from Jeffrey Brown, Katie Cook and newcomers Jeff Stokely and Heather White. There are two covers for issue #1, to be distributed in a 75/25 split. The main cover is by Jeff Stokely and Lizzy John, and the chase cover is by Brown.
Upcoming issues will feature works by Adrianne Ambrose, Heidi Arnhold, Ross Cambell, Joanna Estep, Jake Forbes, Sam Humphries, Neil Kleid, Chris Lie, Jeremy Love and Grace Randolph.
Additionally, each comic will contain activity pages for kids, such as games, puzzles and arts and crafts projects.
