THE SUPER HERO SQUAD SHOW: "THIS AL DENTE EARTH!"

Marvel has released five images from "This Al Dente Earth!" Saturday's new episode of The Super Hero Squad Show on Cartoon Network.

The episode was written by series story editor Matt Wayne.

"It's a story so big, we needed an extra episode to tell it," Wayne told The Continuum. "The producers and I always planned to end Season 1 with a big finish. Who better to give the Squaddies their toughest challenge yet than Galactus himself?

"In the course of fighting the Purple-helmeted Devourer of Worlds, the heroes put their season-long fractal hunt to rest, one of the six original Squaddies leaves the team for good, and we even hint at the wonders we're currently cooking up for SHS Season 2! By the time the cosmic finale ends, there won't be a dry eye in the house. At least, not in my house."

Here's how Marvel describes the episode: "Galactus arrives in Super Hero City with one intention - to devour the Earth! The fate of the planet hangs in the balance, and the Squaddies are the only ones who can save it. But when the city's heroes prove powerless before GalactusÕ omnipotence, theyÕll stop at nothing to save the planet and the fate of man(and mutant)kind! In one last bid to assemble the Infinity Sword in an effort to defeat him, the Squad finds out they require cooperation from Dr. Doom in order to complete this task. Will Dr. Doom help them? Why is Reptil the key to saving the planet? And which Squaddie will make a tremendous sacrifice to save the Earth? Packed with guest character appearances from Pyro, Juggernaut, Sabretooth, Fin Fang Foom, Thanos, Firelord, Terrax, Enchantress, Fantastic Four, Nick Fury, Storm, Ant-Man, Wasp, Misty Knight and Luke Cage."
