ANDY SCHMIDT TALKS G.I. JOE'S RIPCORD

IDW Publishing will introduce Ripcord in a two-part G.I. Joe: Origins story, which begins next week with #13.

During The Continuum's recent visit to IDW Publishing in San Diego, editor Andy Schmidt talked to Kate Jewell about the character and the story.

SMALLVILLE GETS 10TH SEASON

The CW has announced that Smallville will return in the fall for a 10th season.

Smallville moved to Friday nights this season, where it currently ranks as network television's No. 1 show in its time period among men 18-34 and men 18-49.

According to the network, Smallville has "dramatically improved" The CW's ratings performance in its Friday 8-9 p.m. time period. The improvements include 67 percent among adults 18-34 (1.5 rating/6share), 200 percent in men 18-34 (1.8/7), 75 percent in adults 18-49 (1.4/5), 183 percent in men 18-49 (1.7/6) and 74 percent in total viewers (3.12million).

Smallville joins the five previously announced series -- The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, 90210, Supernatural and America's Next Top Model -- that will return for another season on The CW.

FAMILY GUY: "PETER-ASSMENT"

Carrie Fisher is guest-starring in "Peter-assment," the Sunday, March 21 episode of Family Guy on Fox.

Here's how Fox describes the episode:

"After Peter has some luck selling footage of a celebrity he caught off-guard, he decides to become a full-time paparazzo. To make matters worse, his new boss, Angela (guest voice Fisher), finds him irresistible and plagues him with unwanted advances. When Peter rebuffs her, he winds up getting the ax.

"Meanwhile, Stewie makes his theatrical debut in a school play, only to be overcome with stage fright."

BRIEFLY

* Marvel Comics has released another teaser image for New Avengers, launching in June from Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen.

* Warner Bros. will release the Green Lantern movie in 3D.

The film, starring Ryan Reynolds, will be in theaters on June, 17, 2011.

Sega has announced that Iron Man 2: The Video Game will feature the voices of Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson, who will reprise their roles of Rhodey/War Machine and Nick Fury from the film.
