WONDERCON: HUMAN TARGET

Jonathan E. Steinberg, executive producer of Fox's Human Target, told The Continuum he is hopeful there will be a second season of the series.

"I think everybody feels good about where the show is creatively," Steinberg told The Continuum on Sunday at WonderCon. "I think the network is happy with it.

"Obviously the launch was difficult. We got shuffled around a little bit. But I think we're just crossing our fingers and hoping we get the opportunity to make more."

A screening of the season finale -- scheduled for April 21 -- and a panel with Steinberg and stars Mark Valley and Jackie Earle Haley was held on Sunday at WonderCon.

Look for video interviews with all three soon here in The Continuum.

WONDERCON: THE LOSERS DIRECTOR SYLVAIN WHITE

Slyvain White, director of The Losers movie, said that he didn't try to jam everything from all the comics into the film.

"We really went back to the source material, starting with 'Ante Up,' which is Volume 1," White said during The Losers' press conference last weekend at WonderCon. "We follow the story linearly, so the cool thing is that it's really an origin story, how these guys became the Losers.

"It also leaves a lot of room from the source material for sequels. So hopefully people will love this movie and we can keep on enjoying the adventures of the Losers."

White said the comic book and artwork of Jock were direct influences in the movie.

"There's two things that I really focused on that I knew worked extremely well in the graphic novel," White said. "The first thing is the tone. The graphic novel has a unique tone combining really gritty visceral action with a really strong humoristic tone. The characters are really fun to navigate the action with. So that's the first thing.

"The second thing is aesthetically, the graphic novel is amazing and I really wanted to reflect that in the movie. You can't necessarily replicate frames out of the graphic novel. I don't think that helps anybody. But there's certain things that I talked about with Jock in terms of the use of colors and the graphic design of the novel that I really wanted to translate into the movie, so that your have a sort of comic-book aesthetic. But it doesn't hit you over the head with it. It's subtle and it eases you into that world."

White was asked about a Robotech movie that he reportedly wil be directing.

"It's not a project that's greenlit or anything," White said. "It's a great cult series. When it came out, I actually saw it in France growing up. It's a pretty amazing cartoon. I'm hoping it's going to come to fruition. I read a draft that's really good, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed."

SMALLVILLE: "CHARADE"

The CW has released a description of "Charade," the Friday, April 23 episode of Smallville.

The episode features the introduction of Maxwell Lord, played by Gil Bellows.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"Lois (Erica Durance) investigates the early prison release of ex-District Attorney Raymond Sacks (guest star Dylan Neal) but he threatens her with a gun when confronted. The Blur (Tom Welling) saves her, but is captured on film by a delivery guy (guest star Dustin Schwartz) who plans to sell the photo to Sacks.

"Lois and Clark each attempt to thwart the delivery of the photo and run into Maxwell Lord, a wealthy tycoon and Checkmate operative, who is trying to learn The Blur's identity to eliminate him.

"Meanwhile, Chloe (Allison Mack) discovers Zod's (Callum Blue) secret."

The episode was written by Don Whitehead and Holly Henderson and was directed by Brian Peterson.
