C2E2: MARVEL -- X-MEN

CHICAGO -- Following the events of Second Coming and ushering in The Heroic Age for the X-Men, Marvel Comics announced new titles and creators at its X-Men panel at C2E2 on Sunday.

Panelists included Marjorie Liu, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Peter David, Jeanine Schaefer and marketing's Arune Singh.

Following are highlights:

* Whilce Portacio is the new artist of Uncanny X-Men, starting in July.

* Leonard Kirk is the new artist of New Mutants.

* The X-Women one-shot by Chris Claremont and Milo Manara is scheduled for July.

* New Mutants Forever by Claremont and Al Rio begins in August.

* X-Men #1, by Victor Gischler and Paco Medina, pits mutants vs. vampires, beginning in July.

* Wolverine: Weapon X is ending, to be replaced by a new Wolverine series from Jason Aaron and Renato Guedes. Wolverine literally goes to hell in the story that starts in September, but while is soul is gone, his body is terrorizing those closest to him. Covers are by Jae Lee.

* X-23 becomes an ongoing series in September, written by Liu with an artist to be announced. Liu described the book as "a journey of self-discovery."

* Dark Wolverine gives way to Daken: Dark Wolverine #1 in September. The series is written by Liu and Daniel Way, with art by Camuncoli. Daken looks to find his own path following the disbanding of the Dark Avengers.

* X-Force will be relaunched in October, from writer Rick Remender and artist Jerome Opena. Wolverine takes over leadership and has a mission: kill the 10-year old boy who will become Apocalypse. Marvel's promo image darkened out the team members. The story takes places after the Wolverine in hell events.
