SHOUT FACTORY TO RELEASE MARVEL KNIGHTS ANIMATION

Shout! Factory and Marvel Animation have expanded their content partnership to bring the Marvel Knights Animation series to the U.S. home entertainment marketplace.

The announcement was made on Thursday by Shout! Factory founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos and Marvel Animation President Eric Rollman.

Under the multi-year agreement, Shout! Factory will be the exclusive U.S. home entertainment distributor with licensing rights to Marvel Knights Animation properties, including Astonishing X-Men: Gifted, Black Panther, Iron Man: Extremis, Spider-Woman and more to be announced.

Early this year, Shout! Factory announced an agreement with Marvel Animation to be the exclusive U.S. home entertainment distributor to Marvel's The Super Hero Squad Show.

"We are excited to expand our relationship with Shout! Factory to bring Marvel Knights Animation to home video," Rollman said. "This offering brings the best of the best of our comic books to life using proprietary animation techniques, delivering a must see experience for both loyal and new fans."

No release dates were announced.

BLUEWATER PRODUCTIIONS' FEMALE FORCE TITLES

Following the already solicited July release of Female Force: Margaret Thatcher, Bluewater Productions has announced another title in the line with Female Force: Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in August.

Written by longtime friend John Blundell, the Margaret Thatcher comic will trace Thatcher's rise to prominence in British politics and her historic decade-plus as the United Kingdom's prime minister.

Blundell is the author of the book Margaret Thatcher: A Portrait of the Iron Lady. Blundell explored not only Thatcher's rise in his book, but also her deep respect and admiration of the United States, something that he included in the Female Force version of Thatcher's story. Robert Bruner draws the story.

"It was often noted that every time she set foot on U.S. soil, there was an extra spring in her step and she lost several years," Blundell said.

The Bruni-Sarkozy comic, written by Dr. Who novelist David McIntee, highlights Bruni-Sarkozy's rise from one of the most famous supermodels of the 1990s to a pop music star to the First Lady of France.

"It was interesting to try to find an angle from which to cover a real person's story rather than to make one up," McIntee said. "It's a nice little variation on the usual way of writing a comic."

The art is by Heath Foley.
