X-MEN: FIRST CLASS ON JUNE 3, 2011

Matthew Vaughn is set to direct X-Men: First Class for a June 3, 2011 release for 20th Century Fox, Variety has reported.

It will be Vaughn's third comic-book film, following Stardust and Kick-Ass. At one point Vaughn was on board for X-Men: The Last Standing -- even casting Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut and Kelsey Grammer as the Beast -- before Brett Ratner took over as director.

Bryan Singer, who directed the first two X-Men films, conceived the story for X-Men: First Class and will produce. Also producing are Lauren Shuler Donner, who has produced all four X-Men movies, and Simon Kinberg, a writer on X-Men: The Last Stand.

Production is expected to begin this summer; no casting has been announced.

IRON MAN 2 ROUNDUP

Scarlett Johansson, who plays Black Widow in Iron Man 2, was a guest on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday.

Johansson's big fight scene, with Black Widow working through a security team at Justin Hammer's facility, was shown for the first time on television.

Johannson appears twice in Black Widow garb in the movie, although she is never referred to by that name.

The Tonight Show continues its "Iron Man Week" with Robert Downey Jr. on Wednesday, Samuel L. Jackon on Thursday and Don Cheadle on Friday.

In other Iron Man 2 news:

* CNN's Christiane Amanpour and Fox News' Bill O'Reilly both have small roles as themselves in the film, broadcasting news pieces about Stark Industries.

* Adi Granov is credited as "suit consultant." Stephen Platt is listed among the film's illustrators.

* Special thanks in the end credits go to John Byrne, Gene Colan, Matt Fraction, Kevin Hopgood, Len Kaminski, Bob Layton, Don Rico, John Romita Sr. and John Romita Jr.



DC COMICS NEWS ROUNDUP

DC Comics has unveiled Yanick Paquette's variant cover for Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #3.

Andy Kubert is providing the covers for the series, with interior artists providing the variants.

In other DC news:

* The published has unveiled the cover for American Vampire #6, in stores in August. The issue kicks off a story by Scott Snyder and Rafael Albqueque called "Devil in the Stand."

* The art for Batman Beyond #2 will be by Ryan Benjamin and John Stanisci.

* Contrary to its original soliciation, Astro City: Silver Agent #2 will not have a variant cover.

* Green Lantern #54 and Power Girl #12 will now be in stores on May 26.

TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON TRAILER

Activision has released a new multiplayer overview trailer and 11 screenshots for Transfomers: War for Cyberton.

THE SIMPSONS: "JUDGE ME TENDER"

Fox has released three imagea and a description from "Judge Me Tender," the season finale of The Simpsons scheduled to air on Sunday, May 23.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"When Moe discovers a hidden talent for judging contests, he is approached by a television agent to join the American Idol judges' panel. Moe flies to Los Angeles where he tours the Fox lot and receives some sage career advice. Meanwhile, Homer drives Marge crazy when he begins hanging around the house."

The episode guest-stars American Idol judges Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson.
