SMALLVILLE'S FINAL SEASON

The CW has announced that Smallville's upcoming 10th season will also be its final one.

The network revealed its 2010-11 lineup, with Smallville returning to its Friday at 8 p.m. time period.

Smallville will oppose another DC Comics-based show, Human Target, will which occupy the same time slot on Fox.

Here's how the CW describes the new season:

"Entering its explosive tenth and final season, Smallville culminates in the epic rise of the world's ultimate hero - Superman. Finally working alongside the intrepid Lois Lane at the Daily Planet, Clark Kent had accepted his destiny as the guardian of Metropolis when General Zod arrived, challenging Clark's authority and power. Just when the romance between Clark and Lois began to bloom, Clark was called into duty by the legendary Justice Society and his own burgeoning league of heroes to fight the gathering dark forces. As Season 9 drew to a close, Clark sacrificed himself to save the world from Zod.

"Season 10 promises the classic reuniting of the timeless romance between Clark and Lois, and brings Clark face-to-face with his destiny as he overcomes his final trials and forges the iconic identity that will be known for all time."

Cast members listed for Season 10 are Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Erica Durance as Lois Lane, Justin Hartley as Oliver Queen and Cassidy Freeman as Tess Mercer.

Smallville will be reunited with Supernatural on Friday nights, as that show moves into the 9 p.m. slot.

IMAGE COMICS' NANCY IN HELL

Image Comics has announced an August 4 launch for Nancy in Hell, a four-issue mini-series by writer El Torres and artist Juan Jose Ryp.

Ryp's credits include Avatar Press' Black Summer and No Hero; Torres wrote The Veil and Zombies!: Eclipse of the Undead.

"Nancy was one of our first creations together, and foolishly, we still love her," explains Ryp, a resident of Andalusia, Spain.

"There weren't any deep questions or psychological undertones to this book when we first started," said Torres, who also lives in Andalusia. "We just wanted to create a fun little romp with a blond bombshell armed with a chainsaw, carving her way through demons and the undead. Though after starting with some story details involving Christian cosmogony -- after all, she is wandering through a sort of Christian Hell -- the deep questions invariably came up."

Here's how Image describes the book:

"Good girls go to heaven, right? But it seems like there are no good girls anymore. After her death, Nancy awakens in a creepy landscape to find decomposing lost souls, demons lurking in the shadows, outcasts, chainsaws, booze, and certain doom. Can Nancy escape from Hell? Take a white-knuckle tour of the underworld to find out!"
