NEAL MCDONOUGH: GREEN ARROW

Dum Dum Dugan likely won't be Neal McDonough's next comic-book role.

The Continuum has learned that McDonough has recorded the lead role in a DC Showcase animated short featuring Green Arrow.

Warner Home Video has not announced yet on which release Green Arrow will be featured. The short was written by Greg Weisman, who is producing Cartoon Network's Young Justice animated series.

Although not announced by Marvel Studios yet, McDonough has talked about getting the role of Dugan for the Captain America: The First Avenger live-action film. At the recent MTV Movie Awards and related functions, he noted that he is growing Dugan's trademark moustache.

McDonough has worked with Marvel and in animation before, voicing Bruce Banner in UPN's The Incredible Hulk animated series.

GUARDIANS OF THE GLOBE BACK-UPS

Image Comics has announced a series of one-page back-up stories by Chris Giarrusso in its Guardians of the Globe series that launches on August 25.

The backup stories are based on the mock teaser images that Image released featuring Invincible, Spawn, Rick Grimes, Barack Obama and Gary Popper.

"The response to the Guardians of the Globe teasers was astounding," said Guardians co-writer Robert Kirkman. "So many people wanted to see a Guardians team made up of Invincible, Spawn, Rick Grimes, Barack Obama and Gary Popper. Ask, and you will receive!"

Giarrusso said, "I'll be featuring President Barack Obama in a comic. As far as I know, this is something that has never been done before. A move like this is bound to stir up a lot of heated controversy, but I have the opportunity to do something historically groundbreaking in these strips."
