MARVEL COMICS ROUNDUP

Marvel Comics has unveiled the lineup for Uncanny X-Force, which debuts in X-Men: Second Coming #2.

Here's how Marvel describes the book:

"After the devastation from Bastion's forces, the X-Men must band together and rebuild, but one group has other plans. When a secret society resurrects the feared villain Apocalypse, Wolverine's brand-new black-ops team is the only strong enough to take him down -- by any means necessary."

The ongoing Uncanny X-Force begins in October, written by Rick Remender, with art by Jerome Opena and covers by Esad Ribic, Marko Djurdjevic, Clayton Crain and Rob Liefeld.

DC COMICS ROUNDUP

DC Comics has announced that Marc Guggenheim will be the new writer of Justice Society of America beginning with October's #44.

"For me, one of the advantages of working for the 'Big Two' is getting to play with the biggest toys in the sandbox," Guggenheim said. "The Justice Society so fits that category, my inner fanboy is squealing with delight. I was a huge fan of the JSA back when they were ensconced on Earth-2 and I was introduced to their exploits in the pages of Adventure Comics and the annual JLA/JSA crossovers.

"Our goal is to craft a JSA run for the ages and I think we've come up with something that's revolutionary while still feeling uniquely 'Justice Society.' Pay close attention to that second word. Big clue there."

In other DC news:

* Scott Snyder is the new writer of Detective Comics beginning in November.

* DC has released a teaser image for "Return of the Black Lanterns?" in October.

BRIEFLY

* Image Comics has announced an Oct. 20 release for Elephantmen, War Toys: Agathe. The 32-page one-shot will be written and drawn by Marian Churchland, with inks by Moritat.

"I'm thrilled to have the chance to revisit one of Elephantmen's strongest characters, Yvette," Churchland said. "She's fierce, and she's formidable. Best of all, try as you might, she never relinquishes her inherent mystery."

Here's how Image describes the book:

"French resistance fighter Yvette has survived the stunning conclusion of Elephantmen: War Toys, Vol. 1. As Yvette recovers from her injuries in a small village in Norway, the family that nurses her starts to wonder whether or not they have made the right decision..."
