COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: BATMAN ANIMATED

Two major announcements came out of the Batman: The Brave and the Bold panel at Comic-Con on Saturday: 1.) Superman and Wonder Woman will be appearing in the series before its conclusion; and 2.) Producer James Tucker has already begun preparation for a new Batman animated series.

The Continuum caught up with Tucker after the panel to talk about the two developments.

COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: MARVEL ANIME

SAN DIEGO -- Marvel hosted the world premiere of the Iron Man anime TV series at Comic-Con International on Friday. Jeph Loeb, Marvel's head of television, announced that the show will air on G4.

COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: MARVEL ANIMATION

With animation still coming in some of its shows and later specific panels devoted to other shows, Marvel Animation's panel at Comic-Con International on Friday turned into a game show, with audience members winning many prizes.

Tom Kenny, who provides the voices of Iron Man and Captain America in The Super Hero Squad, hosted the festivities, with help from Charlie Adler and Stan Lee.

COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: ASPEN COMICS

At its panel on Friday at Comic-Con International, Aspen Comics announced four new properties created in-house by Vince Hernandez, Mark Roslan, Peter Steigerwald and Frank Mastromauro.

COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: COLLIDER ENTERTAINMENT

Producer/2riters Marc Guggenheim and Alisa Tager have announced the formation of Collider Entertainment, a company focused on intellectual properties than can be developed across multiple platforms for production and global distribution simultaneously.

The company will have multiple creators writing and directing stories for film, television, comic books, video games and alternative/new media outlets.

The first two projects will originate as comic books and be published by Image Comics:

* Utopian is by Guggenheim and Tara Butters. The project between Guggenheim and Butters -- both of whom are professional writers and are married but have never written together until now -- tells the story what happens when the world's superheroes are rendered obsolete when war, famine and crime suddenly begin to disappear. One hero investigates the source of the newfound tranquility, but his former comrades oppose his efforts to return the world to normal.

* The second title, The Mission, by Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber, is a supernatural thriller about a man who receives instructions from the angel Gabriel to commit murder.

Guggenheim said, "Collider is founded on the notion that when story drives the idea, unfettered by licensing and outdated business models, the end product is better and, therefore, more commercially viable."

Tager said, "Our philosophy is that the story drives the idea, rather than the medium determining the story. The result is only limited by the imagination of the creator."

COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: ROBERT KIRKMAN PANEL

Image Comics partner Robert Kirkman -- riding the crest of the upcoming AMC television series based on his The Walking Dead -- opened up the floor to questions during his panel at Comic-Con International on Thursday.

* IDW Publishing has announced Ultimate Alex Raymond Collection: The Definitive Flash Gordon And Jungle Jim, offering two timeless series together for the first time. The collection will include every Sunday by Raymond from both classic strips, remastered, restored, and presented in the oversized, 12" x 16" "champagne" edition format.

"Alex Raymond's lush art deserves this oversized, remastered series," said Greg Goldstein, IDW's COO.

Coming in late 2011 and announced at Comic-Con International, this is the latest offering from Raymond, the quintessential adventure comic strip creator, by IDW's imprint, Library of American Comics. The artist's post-war modernist detective series, Rip Kirby, is currently being collected.
