COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD

SAN DIEGO -- With production on the final 13 episodes underway, the creators behind Batman: The Brave and the Bold met with the Comic-Con International crowd one final time last weekend.

Panelists included producers James Tucker and Michael Jelenic, actors Diedrich Bader and John DiMaggio, voice director Andrea Romano and executive producer Sam Register.

Highlights included:

* Following Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Tucker will be working on a new Batman series and Jelenic will be working on a new Thudnercats series.

* Tucker joked The Brave and the Bold was an "enema" that Batman fans needed in animation, with the character certain to return to a darker tone in his next incarnation.

* DiMaggio said his turn as Aquaman was more broad than previous versions of the character, who seemed to be one-note with his telepathic powers. "They let me go, they let me play with it," he said.

* Bader's children came up to the panel, dressed as Black Canary and Ra's al Ghul.

* The episode screened was "Emperor Joker!," written by Steven Melching and directed by Ben Jones.

The episode featured the Rainbow Batman opening segment, based on the infamous comics cover.

Paul Ruebens reprises his role of Bat-Mite in the episode. He accidentally gives the Joker his powers, and Joker responds by repeatedly killing Batman in various gruesome ways.

Harley Quinn also appears in the episode.

* Superman and Wonder Woman will appar in the series, Bader confirmed.
