Marvel Comics has announced a February premiere for Silver Surfer, a five-issue series written by Greg Pak, with art by Stephen Segovia and covers by Carlo Pagulayan.

"Introducing him as the Silver Savage in 'Planet Hulk' was ridiculously fun," Pak said. "Now we're having a chance to do something even more insane, telling a story utterly grounded in human emotion that embraces the Surfer's cosmic mythology while shattering all expectations.

"This is the Surfer you've always loved and a Surfer you've never seen before. Long-time fans, dontcha dare miss it! New readers, come on in -- this is a perfect jumping on point for rediscovering Marvel's shining, silver star."

In other Marvel news, the publisher announced a February launch for Hawkeye: Blindspot, a four-issue mini-series written by Jim McCann, with an artist to be named and covers by Mike Perkins.

Via Yahoo! Movies, Universal Pictures has released the first poster for Cowboys & Aliens.

The first trailer will be released on Wednesday.

Here's how the film is described:

"1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Daniel Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford). It's a town that lives in fear.

"But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

"Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents -- townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors -- all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival."

Cowboys & Aliens is scheduled for a July 29 release.

* Deadworld: The Last Siesta will follow January's IDW Deadworld Omnibus, IDW Publishing has announced.

The series is written by creator Gary Reed and is illustrated by Mark Bloodworth.

"Siesta looks fantastic," Reed said, "Bloodworth did a really nice job. He has about 5 pages to go and then it will be put on the schedule." Reed also said that Sami Makkonen will return to Deadworld but in a serialized form and for the first time, Deadworld will be in color.

The Deadworld movie has a completed script by David Hayter, whose credits include X-Men and Watchmen, and a director should be announced soon. "On the movie front, I can't say much about it. To me, it's not tangible until actually production begins," Reed said.
