CHARLIE SHEEN COMIC BOOK

Charlie Sheen, fired this week from CBS' Two and A Half Men, will be the subject of a Bluewater Productions bio-comic book titled Infamous: Charlie Sheen.

The 32-page book will provide a framework for Sheen's recent media-captured outbursts and also show the path of how the actor reached this point in his career.

"Doing a book about Charlie Sheen is different from most bio-comics in that the news is literally happening as we speak. Who knows what he's going to say or do next and how will that fit into the context of telling his story," said issue writer Mark Shapiro. "As I am writing this I am constantly aware of what could change at the last possible minute. This is when comic-book writing is more like journalism."

According to Bluewater, the title, scheduled for release this summer is "an unorthodox take on an unorthodox career." Bluewater will develop and publish an up-to-the-moment account of Sheen's life.

"We're not looking to exacerbate what could be a sad situation; a public person self-destructing on camera. We can all laugh how outrageous Sheen is behaving, all waiting for the next 'Duh. Winning' moment, but I want to make sure that part of the focus of this issue deals fairly with mental health and substance abuse issues." said Bluewater president Darren Davis.

"There are those who are going to complain that we are exploiting Sheen. But honestly, this is no different than People Magazine devoting most of an issue to the story or TMZ or Slate or the general media's constant coverage of breaking developments.

"If Sheen contacted us right now and wanted us to donate some of the potential profits to a charity of his choosing, we would happily do so."

The book will be drawn by Fred Grivaud and will feature cover art by Joe Phillips.

APE ENTERTAINMENT TO PUBLISH CASPER

Ape Entertainment and Classic Media have announced that the publisher will be adding the Casper's Scare School property to its KiZoic line of all-ages titles.

The series will feature Casper the Friendly Ghost and all of the characters from the CGI-animated Casper/s Scare School television series.

Based on the 2006 film, Casper's Scare School, the television series premiered in the United States in 2009 on Cartoon Network. In Scare School, Casper has a new assignment: to get in touch with his spooky side.

"Anyone who grew up on comic books is familiar with Casper the Friendly Ghost," said Ape Entertainment founder and co-publisher Brent E. Erwin. "What Scare School does is reinvent the character for a new generation of fans, while never losing what appealed to the original readers who first fell in love with Casper decades ago."

Casper's Scare School will launch in October.

"It's classic Casper but with a slight contemporary spin," Erwin said. "And while a lot of the old material featured only Casper at its core, Scare School stars a cast of colorful characters that the entire family can enjoy."

MARVEL COMICS NEWS ROUNDUP

Marvel Comics has unveiled the cover to June's Thunderbolts #158, designating it as a Fear Itself tie-in.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue, which is written by Jeff Parker with art by Kevin Walker:

"As the Serpent's deadly Worthy run rampant throughout the Marvel Universe obliterating everything in their path, the fury of Fear Itself strikes the Thunderbolts! In Thunderbolts #158, panic strikes the superhuman prison facility -- known as The Raft -- when one of the mysterious Worthy shows up to reduce the Thunderbolts' headquarters to rubble. The team must act fast and fight faster if they plan on making it out of Fear Itself alive!"

"Not that it's ever calm and stable in the world of Thunderbolts, but now with Fear Itself we blast into catastrophic," Parker said. "The job of the team just got several times harder -- I'd say we're going to need two teams to deal with what happens when one of our people become Worthy."

In other Marvel news:

* Marvel Comics has released a Fear Itself teaser image titled, "Iron Breaks. Soldiers Fall. Gods Die."

* Marvel has announced David Baldeon as artist of Marvel Zombies Christmas Carol, a five-issue mini-series that starts on May 4.

Said Baldeon: "This book is not about drawing zombies just because they're fun. It's about the characters, the horror, and a fresh yet horrifying look at Victorian terror.... It's about giving this book its own atmosphere and feel and making it look like no other version of Christmas Carol ever has."

BRIEFLY

* Robert Kirkman has announced The Infinite, a new series with art by Rob Liefeld that will begin in August from Image Comics and Kirkman's Skybound imprint.

Here's how the book is described:

"The Infinite, a science-fiction adventure that tells the story of Bowen, a freedom fighter who's seen civilization fall to The Infinite. Now, he has come back in time to enlist the aid of his 19-year-old self in order to prevent the war he lost and hopefully spare his younger self the horrors of what he's lived through."

"The Infinite is a new way of looking at time travel, we're throwing out all the old rules of time travel fiction and coming up with new ways of dealing with it. We're definitely doing things in this series that no one has ever seen before. I can't wait to share this concept with the world," Kirkman said.
