DOMINION: DINOSAURS VERSUS ALIENS

Filmmaker Barry Sonnenfeld has announced today a publishing and producing partnership with Liquid Comics and producer, Arnold Rifkin. Under the new partnership, Sonnenfeld will simultaneously develop a graphic novel and film property called, Dominion: Dinosaurs Versus Aliens, with Grant Morrison, who will write both the graphic novel and the screenplay.

"Growing up my fascination was all things dinosaur, and as an adult, I've had some success making films about aliens, so this is a dream come true. I met Sharad several years ago when I wrote a forward for one of Liquid's graphic novels and we've been trying to do a project together ever since," Sonnenfeld said.

The story for Dominion: Dinosaurs Versus Aliens is based on a secret world war battle that was never recorded in our history books. When an alien invasion attacks Earth in the age of the dinosaurs, our planet's only saviors are the savage prehistoric beasts which are much more intelligent than humanity has ever imagined.

Sonnenfeld, Rifkin and Liquid's CEO & Co-founder, Sharad Devarajan will be producers on the film, with WME packaging the project. Morrison and Liquid's Co-founder, Gotham Chopra, will be executive producers.

"My collaboration with such pedigreed talents as Barry, Sharad, and Grant has proven to be a wonderful creative experience, and I look forward to being a part of bringing Barry's vision to the screen," Rifkin said.

Liquid will launch the first graphic novel story for the franchise later this year in print and digital formats for the iPad, iPhone and other mobile devices. Artwork for the graphic novel will be done by Mukesh Singh.

"This epic story is everyone's dream battle come to life. We are thrilled to work with Barry Sonnenfeld to bring his vision of dinosaurs versus aliens to the world and with Arnold Rifkin whose prolific experience as a producer will enable us to take this story to the screen," Devarajan said. "Barry's creativity is also enhanced by the amazing talents of Grant Morrison who remains one of graphic fiction's modern masters."

SPIDER-ISLAND MINI-SERIES

Marvel Comics has announced an August launch for a pair of three-issue Spider-Island mini-series, Cloak and Dagger and The Amazing Spider-Girl.

Spider-Island: Cloak & Dagger will be written by Nick Spencer, with art by Emma Rios. In the story, Cloak and Dagger defend a legion of spider-powered New Yorkers from turning on themselves and each other!

"Nick and Emma are two of the most explosive new talents in comics and they're matched perfectly on with Cloak and Dagger...two of Marvel's most exciting characters," editor Steve Wacker said. "This is the definitely the book to watch coming out of Spider-Island."

Spider-Island: The Amazing Spider-Girl is written by Paul Tobin, with art by Pepe Larraz. The first cover is by Patrick Zircher.

Here's how Marvel describes the story:

"Spider-GirlÕs got a whole new set of powers -- but will they do her any good now that the Society of Wasps has decided to use the cover of Spider-Island to eradicate all arachnids?"

"It's a very different Spider-Girl that readers will encounter in the pages of Spider-Island: The Amazing Spider-Girl, as the strange outbreak of spider-powers infects her as well... but in very surprising ways," Tobin said. "And when the Society of the Wasp declares full scale war on the new army of the spider-powered, Spider-Girl surprisingly finds herself aligned with the Kingpin and Hobgoblin. Even more surprisingly she finds that, maybe...that's where she most belongs."
