GREEN LANTERN: THE ANIMATED SERIES ROUNDUP

Razer, the Red Lantern captured at the end of the one-hour premiere of Cartoon Network's Green Lantern: The Animated Series, will be a regular character in the show.

In fact, Razer will be featured in the next new episode, "Razer's Edge," which will force Hal and Kilowog to fight side-by-side with him.

Razer's rehabilitation will be one of the story arcs of the first season, and he will encounter his former Red Lantern allies at some point.

Jason Spisak provides the voice of Razer. Josh Keaton, who plays Hal Jordan, had also auditioned for the Razer role.

In other Green Lantern news:

* Ganthet and Carol Ferris will both return in the first season.

* Kilowog will take center stage in an episode.

* During an interview with The Continuum, producer Bruce Timm described the show's format.

MIKE MIGNOLA'S YEAR OF MONSTERS

Following up on an announcement made at New York Comic Con, Dark Horse Comics has unveiled the schedule for Mike Mignola's 2012 Year of Monsters variant cover program.

The program kicks off on Jan. 11 with Lobster Johnson: The Burning Hand. Following up on the 2007 series The Iron Prometheus, the new story pits the 1930s vigilante against one of the more terrible villains of the 20th century.

Variant covers will be available to any retailer who orders five or more copies of the standard cover.

"Mike Mignola got into the comics business with the simple goal of drawing monsters for a living," said Dark Horse managing editor Scott Allie. "Mike celebrates 2012 by pitting his greatest characters against his favorite monsters on these special covers, unrelated to the stories inside."

Following is Mignola's schedule for the first half of the 2012:

January: Lobster Johnson: The Burning Hand #1.

February: B.P.R.D Hell on Earth: The Long Death #1.

March: B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: The Pickens County Horror #1

April: Lobster Johnson: The Burning Hand #4

May: B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: The Transformation of J. H. O'Donnell

June: Baltimore: Dr. Leskovar's Remedy #1
