DC Comics has unveiled the cover to Justice League #8 by Jim Lee and Scott Williams.

The publisher also announced that Carlos D'Anda will be drawing the issue. Set in present day, Justice League #8 finds Green Arrow vying for inclusion in the team -- but not all of the heroes are in favor of the outspoken new candidate, especially Aquaman.

Lee returns as interior artist with Justice League #9, the start of a story arc titled "The Villain's Journey."

In other DC news:

* Rob Liefeld is expanding his role with the publisher, joining Deathstroke, Grifter and The Savage Hawkman with #9 issues in May.

Liefeld will be writing and drawing Deathstroke, kicking off his run in #9 by pitting Wilson against Lobo, who will be making his first appearance in The New 52.

"Deathstroke is tasked with the greatest challenge of his life, taking on the most dangerous prey in the galaxy…Lobo!" said Liefeld. "The galactic criminal has escaped from his terrestrial prison where he has been housed for years. He is free and ready to settle the score! And what is the secret of the OMEGAs and what role will they play in the deadly showdown?"

Liefeld will be plotting Grifter and The Savage Hawkman.

"Grifter has been targeted for extermination! The time is now for Grifter to embrace his destiny and lead the insurgence against the impending Daemonite threat," Liefeld said. "He has spent his life running from his true destiny, but he must embrace his role in the coming conflict or worlds will fall. Familiar faces emerge warning Grifter that nothing can prepare him for what is coming. His true destiny is revealed and a reluctant hero emerges to lead a strike force of human allies that will deliver the ultimate Deathblow to the impending invasion."

In terms of Hawkman, Liefeld said, "He wields the powerful Nth metal and, as Carter Hall is about to find out, it is a weapon coveted by the deadliest players in a game that plays across the ages," said Liefeld. "New enemies and allies emerge as Carter Hall travels across the globe in pursuit of the answers to his heritage and the Thanagarian connection."

* Frankenstein will guest-star in Men of War #8, the final issue.

Here's how DC describes the issue:

"Frankenstein walks through a rain of bombs over 1941 London before being dragged to the depths of the Pacific Ocean and onto the shores of Japan. Will he make it there in one piece so he can team up with GI Robot to defeat the Axis weapon that threatens to turn the tide of the war? Frank's success will hinge on the help of a four-armed super-spy assassin working in the shadows."

The story is written by Jeff Lemire and Matt Kindt, with art by Tom Derenick.

* DC has announced the creative team for the graphic novel based on Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Crime author Denise Mina will write the book, with cover by Lee Bermejo and art from Leonardo Manco and Andrea Mutti.

DC Entertainment's Vertigo imprint is working closely with the estate of Stieg Larsson and Hedlund Literary Agency to adapt the book, which will be released in November 2012.

"We're thrilled to be adapting this incredible story into a series of graphic novels," said Vertigo editor Karen Berger. "Denise, Lee, Leonardo and Andrea have such great passion for the material and stylistically they're a perfect match to bring it to comics life. Their beautifully dark and visceral work will certainly blow us all away."

Sony Pictures has released a gallery of 36 images from Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, which opens in theaters on Feb. 17.

In addition to images from the movie, the gallery also includes behind-the-scenes production images.

Here's how Sony describes the movie:

"Nicolas Cage reprises his role as Johnny Blaze in Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance. In this gritty new vision for the character, directed by Neveldine/Taylor (Crank), Johnny is still struggling with his curse as the devil's bounty hunter -- but he may risk everything as he teams up with the leader of a group of rebel monks (Idris Elba) to save a young boy from the devil... and possibly rid himself of his curse forever."

According to Deadline, The CW is nearing a deal for a pilot order for a television series based loosely on DC Comics' Green Arrow.

This would not be a spin-off of Smallville, but a new project. Justin Hartley, who played Green Arrow in Smallville, is not attached.

The show will be written and executive produced by Green Lantern feature film co-writers Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, along with Andrew Kreisberg. All have experience in comic-book writing.

Contacted by The Continuum, Guggenheim said he could not comment.

Lucasfilm has released two preview clips from "A Friend in Need," the episode of Star Wars: The Clone premiere on Cartoon Network on Friday.

Here's how Lucasfilm describes the episode:

"Ahsoka Tano is reunited with Lux Bonteri, the handsome young Separatist who opened her eyes to the fact that the war isn't always black-and-white. When Lux suddenly barges into a peace conference between Separatists and Republic delegates, he involves Ahsoka in a dangerous search to find justice for his mother's death."

The episode, directed by Dave Filoni, sees the return of Death Watch. Since their attempt to take over Mandalore in Season 2, they've gotten more dangerous. Jon Favreau returns as warlord Pre Vizsla, and is joined by Katee Sackhoff as the armored warrior, Bo-Katan.
