DC COMICS NEWS ROUNDUP

DC Comics on Tuesday announced three annuals for May and unveiled the cover to Batman, Incorporated #1.

Following is a rundown:

* Batman Annual #1 is written by Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV, with art by Jay Fabok.

The title features the introduction of Mr. Freeze into The New 52 and ties into the Court of Owls story.

"This will be tale that really digs into Freeze's psyche, explaining his connection to the Court of Owls in the present, and exploring dark secrets about his past," Snyder said.

* Animal Man Annual #1 is written by Jeff Lemire, with art by Timothy Green II.

The standalone story details the history of the struggle between the forces of The Red, The Green and The Rot.

"In many ways this annual is like a prequel to the crossover storyline that Scott Snyder and I have planned for Animal Man and Swamp Thing," Lemire said.

* Teen Titans Annual #1 is written by Scott Lobdell and Tom DeFalco, with art by Brett Booth.

Part of a crossover story that weaves through several series -- including Teen Titans, Super and Legion Lost -- the story pits the heroes against one another in a chamber of horrors far beneath the surface of Antarctica.

"We finally get to see the oft-mentioned Colony -- where the N.O.W.H.E.R.E. leader named Harvest has been keeping the hundred or so teenagers for who-knows-how-long," Lobdell said. "We get to see the Teen Titans in pitched battle against the Legion Lost. You can understand why Red Robin is skeptical about a team of teenagers claiming to come from the 30th Century, and why Tyroc is scratching his head over the existence of a team that -- according to the history progs -- is still some eight years away from being formed!

"Then there's the introduction of half the roster of the new Ravages series! It has been eight issues since Red Robin threw down the gauntlet to Harvest, and now we're going to see if the Teen Titans have what it takes to shut down N.O.W.H.E.R.E. once and for all!"

The story give birth to the new Ravagers series by Howard Mackie and Ian Churchill.

* The Batman, Incorporated #1 cover is by Chris Burnham.

* DC announced a second printing for Batman #5, scheduled for March 7.
